Involvement of the artist himself is a luxury which is very uncommon with this type of thing but they produced something beautiful and it makes me a little more hopeful for AI music.

I'm not a fan of modern/contemporary, overproduced (the songs and the artists themselves) top 40 style country music, but I really enjoy classic/traditional country, American folk, and bluegrass. Randy Travis is kind of a weird mix of both, since a lot of his music is still in that classic/traditional country style, but he was also one the first really heavily produced artists. So in general I am not a fan of his, whereas I am a fan of some of his slightly earlier contemporaries like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, etc.

Regardless, this video was still awesome though, and is the first time I've seen AI likenesses do something genuinely worthwhile/heartwarming, and do it in an ethical way too. I even started tearing up at the end when all his friends and family were listening to his new song with him and also tearing up. Thanks for sharing this!

Thanks. Pretty astounding. It opens up a whole Pandora's box about what that means for artists still living, but another one for the estate of those who died with unfinished works in the vault....

It opens up a whole Pandora's box about what that means for artists still living, but another one for the estate of those who died with unfinished works in the vault. Not just remastering old singles, but creating brand new ones with AI voices. This is going to get wild.

Yeah, wild, and likely ethically dubious too. I'm not looking forwards to it since it will probably end up like it was in the early days of internet music file sharing, with songs misattributed to artists (but in this new case actually created by AI likenesses of them) showing up all over the place. It's going to be messy.

Also Canada here: I tried one of the suggested shorts alongside the video and got to hear a sample of it. Maybe that would hold you over until you find the whole thing, if that's what you're after.
