I love all of Marton Barcza’s videos on his “TechAltar” YouTube channel (as well as his weekly tech news roundup on his secondary channel), but I think that he really outdid himself here. There is a lot of very valuable information in this video, that is simply yet eloquently delivered.

To give you a TLDR, he basically looked at France as an example, and explained what the challenges and opportunities are that the rest of Europe faces with regard to autonomy in the military, energy, and IT sectors, and gave some good ideas on how we could go about it.

The examples of some of the work that has already been done gives me hope that Europe could one day be more significantly decoupled from America’s tech giants, which is, in my opinion, our greatest blunder.

I’d personally would also really like to see Europe become a green utopia, where major cities are connected via rails (which I love), and people almost exclusively use electric vehicles. In fact, as much of a proponent of “property rights” and “right to repair” as I am, I think that with cars, I would prefer for the concept of ownership to disappear altogether (in Europe), and for car sharing services to just completely take over (and become more competitive and cheap). I use car sharing a lot already and find it very practical. I would prefer for cars to just become another method of “public transportation”, albeit, operated by private entities.
