Why? Because AMAZON HAS A HUGE FUCKING COUNTERFEIT PROBLEM. If Amazon ever plans to sell clothes reliably, they need to address the counterfeit issue. I've really dialed back ALL my Amazon shopping because of it.

Not even just counterfeit, but straight up stealing money from customers. I spent a decent amount of money on a jacket once that didn't arrive, like I didn't get a knockoff or a version 5 sizes too small, I just didn't get anything. Customer service on the manufacturers end was, of course, nonexistent. Amazon refunded my money thankfully but I was kind of disappointed I didn't get the jacket

I too have reduced or avoided Amazon because Amazon's batch of products concerns me. My solution is to send traffic to seemingly reputable U.S.-based 3rd party sellers for a couple dollars more. I still get Amazon's purchase protection and customer service, and my shipment isn't coming from Amazon's warehouse. Prime shipping is out, of course.

The past 2 years I've noticed most regular stores have comparable (and sometimes cheaper) prices to Amazon. Either because Amazon has increased their prices or regular other stores are finally able to compete. But I find myself ordering more and more items from bestbuy.com, newegg.com, uspoloassn.com, quicksilver.com, etc. because I know I'll be getting REAL items from them.

I think the major benefit here is being able to order a box of stuff from a bunch of different brands at once, which is so much easier than dealing with individual shipments from different sellers.
