    Had the Cambridge Analytical scandal not happened, what action could Facebook have taken to remove the PYMK tool? It seems crazy to me that they could do anything about it since everything is local.

    Of course users should be able to track information generated from their own account. That is, in truth, for "research purposes" - their own. If they choose to contribute info generated from their account to an aggregator, it is their info to share. Could the tool include an opt in provision that permits it to store and and analyze the data collectively, rather than assuming that permission? Thanks for the post doug3465.
