My family is a "hyper-connected" household, with 11 devices. My kids still find time to fight over who gets to use the xbox or the TV or they find something to fight about. While we all have smart phones and tablets or laptops, my wife and I try to limit the amount of screen time we allow. We try to get the kids to play board games, cards or to be creative. My wife and I both remember sharing the family computer as a kid/teen and it was usually several kids surrounding the one computer. I know in my house, we also had 2 typewriters so that those of with homework could do homework while the others could play or chat on AOL.
That's partially why I like the xbox as opposed to pc or tablet/smartphone gaming, because we can all share the experience, cheer each other on, or root for the other team.
