I used Youtube Music for a little bit and wasn't a fan. This is a minor nitpick, but I can't get over the name. When I think of Youtube Music, I think of shitty 2007 Youtube2Mp3 downloads. Also, I feel like it's too connected to my Youtube account. Youtube music would start suggesting dumb parodies that I watched once on Youtube - the kind of thing you listen to while watching the video. I think GPM is a case of "if it aint broke don't fix it" and for the most part I'm satisfied with GPM and I feel like Youtube Music is soulless corporate rebranding.

While I am a Spotify user and haven't used YouTube music, I was looking to switch to Google Play at some point since it's essentially the same as Spotify/YTM but also has personal music collection uploading (50k songs, IIRC) which you can then stream to your own devices. However because of the uncertainty about GP's future I have held off leaving Spotify because I don't want to put a ton of time/effort in to migrating all my stuff on to GP only to have it abruptly disappear if/when it's merged with YTM.

So I think that sort of answers your question in a roundabout way. Unless GP/YTM is merged but they still keep the ability to upload personal music collections to the service, I don't see the point in leaving Spotify since that's the key selling point of GP to me, not just the regular music streaming aspect available through YTM.
