No surprise here. Everything has a cost. The cost of convenience and "meaningful" or "relevant to you" means knowing everything about you. For some it's magic, for others it's terrifying. I'm ok with the data collection so long as I know what it is and how it's used. My biggest issue with this kind of things is the data collection is passive, it collects on default, so you have to opt out as opposed to opt in. I prefer to have the option of how much people know about me. My data my choice is how I think of it.
Yeah and I have to say, of all the companies out there, at least google gives you the option to opt-out, review and delete all your data (even if that option was a bit buried before). And they did that well before the GDPR forced them to, unlike all these other companies scrambling to do so now.
I actually enjoyed the name of the original Google team that created the data download services — The Data Liberation Front!
