Iceland was on my list of countries for about a year before all this Instagram influencers crap started. At this point I'll probably hold off on visiting for a bit until the "hype" dies down.

Even in restaurants. Anything nicely decorated and you have groups of people recording themselves doing things. Walking, being in line, reading the menus. People are walking around street-food streets talking to camcorders. Every goddamn person is a documentarian. It's insane.

I'd say go if you want to, but stick to more out of the way places. That's what I did and I had a lovely time, I stayed in a village in the rural northwest and hiked, hit up hot springs, etc.

I'd go as soon as you are able. Unless the government put up quotas, tourism to Iceland isn't dying down any time soon regardless of "instagram hype".
