An interesting project is brewing in the tildeverse (No relation to tildes.net), where we're connecting tilde servers (aka pubnix servers) via wireguard to each other.

The idea is to build an "intranet" of sorts. Tildes tend to expose few services to the internet, at wide, because, well... There's bad people who do bad things.

However, many of those services can be exposed, without issue, to at least a more trusted network. There is also work to more closely integrate the .tilde TLD (Another project on the tildeverse) to the tildenet, so lower the barrier of entry for someone wanting to run a tilde/pubnix server (ie, no static IP required, reduction in costs, reduction in maintenance headaches due to only being exposed to a smaller network, etc).

It's a new project, so still nascent.

How would this work? Could I connect my computer to the tildenet and then access stuff on the tildeverse through my own computer, or would I only be able to access the tildenet through my current ssh connection to my tilde server? I don't know how VPNs work, like, at all, but I've been loving what the tildeverse has been doing!

If you have a thunix account, hit me up in #thunix on irc.tilde.chat, and I can get you a client wireguard connection to test with. Also, den, in #tildenet has been the one most active on it :)

        That's awesome! I only have a tilde.town account (and a tilde.institute, but I don't use it) but if I look into thunix I'll hit you up :)
