    I find articles like this rather unsatisfying because of the focus on the "big picture" rather than the details of the contract dispute and the resulting user experience.

    The European solution, not explained in the article, seems to be that there is a startup screen offering the user a choice of search engines, which seems to me like the ideal solution if you want users to be in control. Turkey is mandating something else? What is it?

    The author of this article seems to be focused on whether the results are good or bad for Google and other search engines rather than whether it's good for the user.
