This sounds amazing. I have days go by where I'll look up and realize I've been disassociating for six hours and in my cell phone. As I write this on mobile...

I don't know if I'd be able to use the batch notification delay, though. I'd be tempted to make exceptions for messaging notifications, like SMS and Discord, and those make the majority of "dings" that distract me, haha.

I know right? I wish I could say I had more than Reddit, now ~, email and texts keeping me distracted. It honestly gives me spot anxiety to think about how I'll probably never be without a smart phone and expected to be in constant communication. You can shut it off but you'll never be able to go back to like 1997 ever again.

@burntcookie90 in the mental health thread mentioned they go into the mountains with no service to disconnect, and it made me think about camping trips I've taken where I don't have a phone signal. The first day I feel a bit antsy without any internet, but then my brain adjusts and I feel more relaxed.

I'm not sure if there's a substitute for that kind of tech break, but maybe these sorts of apps can help make things less hectic when we aren't out in the wilderness. :D

This is a good point... there were rangers around, but no signal at all is a bit unnerving come to think of it, haha.

This and other great ideas in the same way inevitably get treated a cure-all for individuals who struggle with addiction to their cell phones. A magic solution that is really just an aid. I've found with so many other things until I make a conscious effort to break the bad habit, nothing gets in my way. Apps, blocks, etc all fall by the wayside. And that's what too many people will use it as as well and be disappointed

For those who are looking for something else to help nudge them towards better habits, this will hopefully give them just a little more help.
