    Good article. I'm afraid that no matter what or who, that we are progressing down this Orwellian nightmare. I'm also, probably overly so, annoyed with "Rekognition". I just hate the bastardization...

    I'm also, probably overly so, annoyed with "Rekognition". I just hate the bastardization of our language with these ridiculous marketing terms that honestly sound like they belong more in YA than the news.

      That's what happens when we don't teach ethics more and don't align incentives to support that. Developers are building whatever will make money and will always have the excuse of "if I don't do...

      That's what happens when we don't teach ethics more and don't align incentives to support that. Developers are building whatever will make money and will always have the excuse of "if I don't do it, another (usually cheaper) developer will".

        That is so true. I remember a company I worked for years ago bidding on a pretty questionable project, and "if we don't do it, someone else will" definitely got tossed around.

      I wish more people understood the value of their data and privacy. I wish they were willing to fight for it. Writing letters of concern to companies who profit massively from these practices is...

      I wish more people understood the value of their data and privacy. I wish they were willing to fight for it. Writing letters of concern to companies who profit massively from these practices is not enough. I've heard mention of the need for a Digital Bill of Rights and am more convinced of its necessity with each passing day.
