People have already started making posts in the new groups. I think @Deimos is right about the chilling effect it was having on the discussion of those topics.

Perhaps those comments could be removed with a message to the user explaining why. I read an article the other day describing how researchers are working with A.I. to spots arguments online before they happen. With regards to users, many people simply do not know the best practices for a constructive discussion, such as:

For example, signs that a discussion will go well include gratitude (“Thanks for your help”), greetings (“How’s your day going?”), hedges (“I think that”), and, of course, the liberal use of the word “please.” All this combines to create not only a friendly atmosphere, but an emotional buffer between the two participants. It’s essentially a no-man’s-land of disagreement, where someone can admit they’re wrong without losing face.

On the other hand, warning signs include repeated, direct questioning (“Why is there no mention of this? Why didn’t you look at that?”) and the use of sentences that start with second person pronouns (“Your sources don’t matter”), especially when they appear in the first reply, which suggests someone is trying to make the matter personal. To add to all these signals, the researchers also gauged the general “toxicity” of conversations using Google’s Perspective API, an AI tool that tries to measure how friendly, neutral, or aggressive any given text is.

I think our trusted users will be capable of shaping their communities in part by educating members on constructive dialogue. Similar to the Wikipedia talk pages. And who knows, once the tech is more reliable maybe automoderator will be able to handle the task or flag comments for review.

Either way, I think it's more conducive to creating the atmosphere we want to give users gentle reminders on how they can improve. People deserve a chance to change their behavior.

From what I understand, that's done to make users think before they vote. On threads it's to the right so you have to read the full title first. On comments it's at the bottom for the same reason.

The political ideology of many people in the games industry is a huge barrier to forming unions. They tend to be libertarians who value a laissez faire approach to business. Unfortunately, that means they are often exploited by their employers with no meaningful recourse. Hopefully that will change in the coming years.

It was a guided tour on bicycles, mine was called "Wheeled Victory". The guide showed us the sites and kept us safe as far the best routes, where to stay on the road, etc. We even had a champagne picnic near the Champs Elysee.

There are places to rent bicycles on your own, but I recommend a guided tour first to get the hang of things.

I hope you have a magical trip!

Although on particularly large discussions, it can be hard to tell exactly where the active discussion is taking place when it gets bumped.

Castlevania is a Netflix Original series based on the early games. To be honest I thought it would be a shitshow, as most game adaptations tend to be. However, the writing, the evocative voice acting, and the gory, no-holds-barred animation style won me over. I couldn't believe it was done after the last episode! It's only 4 episodes at the moment with 8 more in production. I highly recommend it.
