Facebook officials told ABC News the company completed a network disruption that their security teams had originally initiated on May 30 against Proud Boys and the American Guard. On May 30, the social media’s internal monitors started seeing traffic from both organizations indicating they intended to send armed agitators to ongoing protests sparked in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

I think this article should have been more upfront about the real violence that Proud Boys have already been committing during these protests.

Just yesterday a video of a group of Proud Boys assaulting people outside of CHAZ in Seattle was posted to Twitter.

Footage from The Daily Caller on Monday night shows a group of men in Proud Boys gear—jackets with the group’s name, and the group’s trademark polo shirts—pushing and punching a man and smashing his phone before piling into a minivan with the license plates removed and driving away. The Proud Boys are a far-right ultranationalist group linked with overt white supremacists that has been implicated in violent brawls across the country, particularly in the Pacific Northwest. The Southern Poverty Law Center has designated the organization as a hate group.

Seeking brawls with the left is standard practice for Proud Boys. The group’s founder, Gavin McInnes, described “fourth degree” membership in the group as consisting of “a major fight for the cause. You get beat up, kick the crap out of an antifa.”

While the fourth degree of a Proud Boy is assaulting people, my favorite fact about the group is that their third degree level is that they cant masturabte.

Looking at the video linked in your article, I don't think the description of what happened matches. There's mutual battery going on, gray guy just doesn't come out very well since he's outnumbered at least three to one by assailants. We don't actually get to see the opening though, so it's unclear who decided to start getting physical first. Washington state does not view first degree (felony) theft as a reasonable defense for assault, so gray guy could potentially come out of this mess in worse shape than his assailants, since Washington's self defense clause is similar to Ohio's (my state) in that it is transitive if you are acting under the reasonable belief that someone committed a violent crime against a victim.

Could also pan out that one of the proud boys swung first, in which case they have serious legal problems (and four of them are going to jail). Gray guy has currently filed a report with SPD accusing one of the proud boy members of brandishing during the engagement.

That is likely due to the fact that the Daily Caller is the group that shared the video. The Daily Caller is "news site" founded by white supremacist and Fox News host Tucker Carlson. They often doctor or edit videos like these on purpose.

Given that one of the Proud Boys in the video is "Tiny" Toese, who is currently on probation from multiple past assault charges and is barred from attending any protests in the state for two years, I feel pretty confident to say that they started it.

A right-wing activist best known for brawling at Portland protests is barred from participating in future city demonstrations for the next two years, a Multnomah County judge ruled Tuesday.

Tusitala “Tiny” Toese, 23, was also sentenced to two years’ probation and 80 hours of community service after he pleaded guilty to third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, for his role in a violent altercation prompted by political differences.

Many other Proud Boys members are currently in jail due to their constant violence, which again is literally part of the code of their street gang.

The same chapter of the Proud Boys also threatened the mayor of Portland in a Facebook video in 2019.

It should also be mentioned that the Proud Boys are pretty serious about spreading propaganda. They famously had Andy Ngo cover the "Antifa terrorists". Do a quick Google search and you'll see...
