If you've been fucked since Invidious got much less reliable and then the primary instance went down, the heroes behind Freetube have stepped up and implemented a new local API which doesn't require Invidious to work. It can still use Invidious, but no longer relies on it.
There's lots of other improvements too, which make this the way I'd use youtube even if I didn't care about privacy.
