For anyone thinking to themselves, "I'm not important enough to worry about someone doxxing me": Just remember that all it takes is passing off the wrong person or group on Twitter or some other site and them holding a grudge against you.
I accidentally passed off a gamergate guy on Twitter years ago by quote tweeting someone's tweet with a screenshot of something stupid he said (basically the "it's about ethics in game journalism"). This guy tried to find out my real name, address and where I worked. Luckily, I'm pretty good at keeping my info private and had alerts set up. He tried to brigade my account and harassed me for weeks.
So in short, just remember that all it takes is one loon.
