The password compromised feature is great
I just joined the site less than an hour ago and when I registered I tried to use my normal password that I use on a lot of sites (I know, I know) and it wouldn't let me register because the password has shown up in a data breach. I double checked on https://haveibeenpwned.com/ and sure enough, my password was compromised at some point. So now I know I need to go back and change my password on a hell of a lot of sites.
Anyway, thank you. I've never seen that feature on a site before and it saved my ass before an account of mine was really compromised.
FYI, 1password.com has a haveibeenpwned integration into their password manager. When I ask it to do a scan, it yells at me for using passwords that are compromised, and also flags any places where I haven't changed it since a known breach. Also notifies me when there's a new breach. It's good stuff.
(No, they're not paying me to say this, I just love their software)
I use LastPass currently, I may have to consider switching over to this. Thanks!
I knew someone would ask that.
Honestly? Laziness. Sometimes the autofill feature doesn't work on my phone in certain apps and it's easier to just type in the password that I know rather than go into the Lastpass app and try to get the password to copy and paste.
That being said, I use a randomly generated password for everything I consider to be sensitive or really important.
No problem, it was a fair question
I wish more sites would adopt this technique.
It happened to me as well and I was impressed and happy to be joining a community where that would be an early feature. It really started my ~ life on the right foot.
