Okay let's get real: What are the rules about self promotion?
I've read the docs and I personally have not seen this topic come up yet.
I've been weary/afraid to post any more of my own content since my very first post here on ~Tildes. Are there currently any unofficial rules for self-promotion? We all know Reddit once had that stupid 10:1 (or was it 5:1?) ratio rule before they chucked it. I don't want to feel like a selfish person or a spammy person if I submit content that I created and/or links to accounts that promote myself as a brand.
I apologize for this topic..I thought I was pretty active and I guess I missed the last time this topic was brought up. My bad.
I totally posted something in ~misc not knowing we had gotten a ~food. I just deleted it and then when I reposted it, I apologized and explained. Everyone seemed to be a nice about it. I feel like if it were Reddit, people would just be jerks about it. Why you deleting andreposting huh?..
Mistakes happen. Just grin and get in front of them.
And any time some one has a problem just tell them this joke.
Q: What are the strongest days of the week?
A: Saturday and Sunday, the rest are week days.
Just FYI, you can ask Demios to move a post for you and he will. You do not need to delete it.
Yeah, I know. I asked but figured I better just get it moved.
For comments, my rule of thumb is whether it's directly relevant to the post or comment I'm replying to. Is this subreddit/website/instagram/etc. that I'm wanting to mention something that people viewing this particular post would genuinely have an interest in? If the answer to that question is "Yes", then I think it's okay to make the mention. Most people don't mind hearing about something that's actually relevant to their interests.
