Thanks for doing this, guys
I just read over the Technical Goals page, and I agree with everything you're doing. I feel like I'm the only one who's annoyed by the recent trends of web design and development that involves heavy use of icon-based navigation and JavaScript. I'm stoked to see what Tildes will become given this direction.
I know I'm not nearly as skilled and experienced as you -- Deimos and the Tildes team -- at web development, but if there's any way that I -- a sysadmin with experience in AWS -- can help, I would be happy to be a part of it. Otherwise, I can continue to lurk, occasionally post, and sing praise of Tildes! Cheers!
Hey Rotorcowboy, welcome! I recognize your name, I'm sure that we've talked over the years in /r/redditdev or /r/AutoModerator or various other meta/mod subreddits.
There's still an infinite amount of stuff to do, but we're off to a decent start. As mentioned, there isn't an API yet (and it's probably still a ways off with so much else to work on), but I'm sure your input would be really useful when we get closer to that point. I imagine working on a wrapper for reddit's API gave you lots of thoughts about what their API did well or poorly, which would help a lot for planning Tildes's.
If you're interested in tinkering with a development version or critiquing my bad sysadmin-ish choices or anything, this is probably the best place to start: https://gitlab.com/tildes/tildes/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md
Also, if you have any API documentation, I would love to start writing a PHP-based wrapper for Tildes. I developed one for another similar site a couple of years ago that gained some traction, but it became a bit unwieldy to maintain after a while. This looks like a good chance to try my hand at it again!
I believe there isn't any real API yet. But one is planned.
Glad to have you :)
