Could we have the option mark all messages as read, or even auto-mark messages as read after we've read them?

Maybe I'm weird but I like combing through my old notifications to see what I've talked about before and unfortunately the current system deletes them after you mark as read. You do a system maybe where the default view for notifications is unread, and then a toggle switch shows you your old notifications that you marked as read? Or perhaps we have have an archive button next to a delete button for them? This could also extend to private messages for example, allowing people to choose to delete or archive their PMs if they want.

It's worth noting that they're not deleted, just not visible on that page anymore. They'll probably show up in the future. I'd link the discussion but I'm on my phone and lazy, so just trust me...

I agree - it took me a second to realize that I had to manually mark notifications as read or else they'd keep popping up. An auto-mark feature would be nice.
