Though still, I’d love an EV version of a Lotus Elise
Same. Wish I could keep enjoying them guilt free. I love everything about it, the sound, the smell, the science and engineering, and the aesthetics. But I also love my planet...

As someone that is still a big petrolhead with several ICE cars I build myself, I'm mostly of the same opinion. Having driven Teslas, Fiat 500e, Fisker Karma, and (very briefly, about 4 miles) a Taycan I wouldn't go as far as say that I prefer EVs as they lack the visceral feedback that an ICE car has, but I also see the shift to EVs as a way of freeing enthusiasts to turn their focus to the ICE cars they desire in the same way cars freed the horse from manual labor and turned equines largely into a hobby. Although, I'm very much of the opinion that pure EVs for the masses aren't going to be a thing and the vast majority of cars will be plug-in hybrids.
The only two cars that really tickle my fancy at the moment are both EV related. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N (because a 600hp retrofuturistic styled EV is right up my alley and Musk has since revealed himself to be a nutjob taking the Cybertruck out of the running) and the Toyota GR Corolla (because I have a long history with Toyota's engines and would like to have what will probably be the last performance engine Toyota ever makes before switching to purely EV/PHEV).
That said, if I was disgustingly rich and had to pick a new hypercar, it'd probably be a Koenigsegg and probably a Gemera with the three cylinder. I've been following their air actuated valve tech for years now and Koenigsegg is an engineering powerhouse if nothing else. The car looks great, I like low slung two door four seat GT cars, the tech is phenomenal, and as much as shoving a 1500hp V8 into the space meant to occupy a I3 plus the EV motor is commendable, a 600hp inline three with an 800hp electric motor to back it up is more than enough for me and that's coming from someone that has driven and raced 1000hp ICE cars.
I had a GR Yaris for a year. The engine was remarkable - 1.6l 3cyl turbo pushing about 260hp and it only weighed 1200kg. I probably would have kept it as my last dino fuelled car, but I couldn’t...

I probably would have kept it as my last dino fuelled car, but I couldn’t get a decent driving position in it. The seats were just too high and the only fix was to replace them with buckets. As I like to keep my cars stock, it just wasn’t an option :(
Eventually got sick of having to recline the seat so far that I got rid. Still miss it though!
The GR Yaris isn't available here in the US, but I could see that being a problem for me as well. My wife has a Honda Fit (the Yaris' direct competitor) and my long legged tall frame doesn't get a...

Has anyone at Hyundai watched their ad video for the N? It's so weirdly full of vroom-vroom engine exhaust noises. Quite hilarious to find in an ad for an all-electric car!

I get it, kinda, one of the items found when it comes to racing electric cars is the lack of auditory and mechanical feedback makes drivers not realize their speed going into corners (be it too slow or too fast). I wouldn't use it except as a gimmick to new people once or twice, but something in their research has said it'll sell cars. So there it is.

The roadster was based on the Elise, but didn’t follow the ethos of Lotus, their ruthless drive to reduce mass and their desire to make a car that handled really well. I’ve not driven a Roadster, but have a history with Lotus cars that leads me to believe a lotus EV would not drive at all like a roadster.
Tangent - if you follow this ethos, you can have your cake and eat it too. My current steed does 160+, 0-60 in the low 4s, drives like a sports car should, yet it’s small, does 40+ mpg and puts out < 160g/km. which is equivalent to a sporty ish super mini.
If you weigh very little, you don’t need a massive engine to drive you forwards, and the benefit can be felt on the road all the time!
Yes, not having a car would be better, but I have to have one, I just don’t have to have an SUV :)

Isn't that just a Tesla model X (gen1)? Lol
Edit: sorry I meant Tesla roadster

Yes knew that, was just being a bit cheeky. :P
That’s quite far from a good car lol
Absolutely correct lol
