Looks like SeatGuru.com -- which was a site for finding info about good/bad seat positions on planes -- has shut down. I didn't use SeatGuru all the time when buying airline tickets, but when I did, I thought it was helpful. It can be nice to know if the seat you're picking or assigned has a window or not, whether it has under-seat storage, if it has USB or power outlets, if it's close to the lavatories (free smellz, tho), etc. Plus, the passenger reviews could be helpful.
In its wake, SeatMaps looks like it might be a decent replacement. Just like SeatGuru, you can plug in your flight and the site will show you the plane that's planned for that flight and its seating map. No seat reviews though.
There's also AeroLOPA, but personally, it doesn't look as helpful. Still a resource.
Hope this gets you the seat of your dreams on your next flight!
