Ortega is good in the role, but the other young actors are pretty terrible. I was surprised it got Globe nominations (and therefore will probably end up with Emmy nominations). I know it’s uber popular but not great. Made for good background noise though.

    Doctor Who: Season 8

I’m nearing the end of season eight of Doctor Who (just the finale to go), and Capaldi might be my favorite Doctor yet. I’m so glad they did away with the constant companion/Doctor romance will they won’t they nonsense. It’s better when they’re strained friends. I still don’t like Clara that much, haha. She’s a terrible girlfriend!

I agree. My favorite doctor/companion pairing is the Donna season. Since they made it clear from the beginning that it wasn’t going to be a romantic thing.

So I kinda bashed Manifest last week in this thread because... well it's really bad. I just found the Manifest subreddit and I haven't laughed this much in a long time. I was pleasantly surprised that almost everyone who watches this show just love to hate it and can't stop watching. The memes are on point and the collective acknowledgement that the show is ridiculous in so many ways is refreshingly positive. I have refrained from visiting show subreddits because of the overwhelming negativity that almost always fills these places (besides the BB subreddit that honestly made the whole show even better) but this time it just works and I love it.

Masterchef the Professionals finished their 15th series. They had a new host chef (Anna Haugh) with Marcus Waring. She's great, the show needed a change and I'd have preferred it if they'd got rid of Greg Wallace, but that's probably not going to happen.

There's a weird thing where Greg's opinion seems to count as much as the actual chefs.

Marcus Waring: "There are some problems with this dish - this is burnt, this is raw, this element doesn't make any sense"
    Greg Wallace: "CORR YUM YUM"
Anna Haugh: "I like your ambition, you've potentially good a good dish here, but your timings meant that it just didn't work today"

    Or:

Marcus: "This is an outstanding plate of food. You've really pushed the boundaries here, and I'm tasting combinations that I've never had before"
Greg: "It's a bit wet for me I'm afraid"
Anna: "This is delicious and I'd gladly pay good money for this, you've come up with something special here"
Greg: "Well, you've split the judges and that must be a concern for you"

I watch it even though it irritates me.

This just occurred to me and I can't stop thinking about it. Why are we calling ourselves queer? Why has that term become accepted and embraced?

I’m not sure this is the right thread for this, but it was reclaimed in the 1980s by a large number of folks as a term to indicate that one is not cisgender/heterosexual.
