My wife and I also enjoyed it overall, without having seen any of the source material - though I've run into it before and was aware of One Piece, I didn't know anything about it. She came in fresh, and without being a fan of anime or anime tropes.

I found the most difficult thing to get over was some of those tropes that really do belong in the show (finishing moves, over the top fashion) but are hard to translate to live action. My wife said the same, that at times it felt a bit "childish". However, the serious moments really landed well, the story and world feel fresh and interesting, the comedy and jokes are sprinkled well throughout without detracting from those serious moments, and I think my favorite bit is the cast - almost every character was well matched to their actor.

I'm looking forward to a season 2, and hope the show doesn't fall short.
