Just started watching Arrested Development with my SO recently. It's too good with very witty writing, why haven't I heard of it more often?

It had a massive cult following ten years ago. I think the middling quality of the Netflix seasons (4+) really hurt the show’s reputation.

As a passing fan of the original series, the Frasier reboot has been pretty fun so far.

I saw the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off thread return since the trailer – animation style is great, and the "twist" at the end of episode 1 is pretty fun if you've managed to avoid spoilers. I'm excited to see where it goes.

The backdrops are gorgeous, the fight choreography is stellar, and the story is compelling if a bit simple. It's gory but it doesn't feel overdone and they don't linger or revel in it*. Swordfights are messy events after all.

It takes you into Japan entirely and it feels like a western love letter to old Japanese samurai culture without being overly tropey.

    Worth a watch.

Edit: * I need to amend this statement a bit lol. I still don't think they're doing it for shock value, actually it's rather closer to humor sometimes, but there's quite a bit of gore and especially episode six is bloody. It still manages not to detract from everything else though. At any rate I felt I should mention it in case someone doesn't like explicit violence such as seeing men cut in half.

The newest seasons of Futurama measure up imho. Still watching the Bear.

I just started watching Bodies on Netflix. I'm only on episode 3 but it has been very interesting so far. I wasn't expecting to be hooked.

The premise is that the same dead body has been found in three different time periods and they're all trying to solve the murder.

I don't know why, but I kept thinking this would have been a great videogame to play.

I've been watching 30 Coins on HBO (or whatever they call it now). Season 1 has been out for a few years but I just discovered it last month right before season 2 started.

Premise: The coins that Judas was given to betray Jesus are being collected by evil people because they give power. There's a lot of dark and corrupt things going on in the Catholic Church and in other places of power worldwide.

It's a bizarre but fun show and I really like it. There's some horror (especially body horror), humor, paranoia, and a lot of overacting. Sometimes there is some dumb telenovella romance drama but then suddenly there will be some bizarre gross-out humor.

It's from Spain so it's mostly in Spanish, but sometimes there is limited amounts of Italian, French, Dutch, and English depending on the location and the characters. Surprisingly Paul Giamatti is in the current season and he is hamming it up pretty well.

There is a lot of social commentary going on in the show, with varying degrees of subtlety. Season one is more about small town dynamics. Season 2 is more about abuse of power and corporate behavior, but there are many other themes.

So if you like funny bizarre horror and speak Spanish or don't mind using closed captions, then I recommend it.
