Binged Fallout last week and was super impressed. They absolutely nailed the feeling of the games. It was fun and kept me hooked and now I’m really looking forward to the next season. Everyone was great but I felt like Walter Goggins really knocked it outta the park as the Ghoul.
Interesting. I agree somewhat that the first half of his show felt a bit "boomer" and following the same old tired path too many seasoned comics go down these days but I really think he picked some of it up in the second half and at least tried to be a little progressive and not go full Gervaise/Chapelle. I appreciated that.
oh my god... so bad. I really like him for Cats Does Countdown, but man, that special just didn't work.
He should stick to TV. No shame in that.
I've been revisiting Psych for the last little while. I like to throw it on in the evening as background. It's a great show; I love James Roday Rodriguez and Dule Hill, and the reset of the cast is great too. It's a pretty by-the-books procedural with a fair bit of comedy, and I think they did a bunch of good and fun things with the show. I haven't watched the movies yet, which is kind of why I started in on watching these; when I'm through, I'll watch all three psych movies.
Been watching The Bear with my wife and it's and interesting show that has really sparked some conversation between us. I really don't know how to feel about it and maybe that's the point. It's a weird mix of intense cinematography/editing with dramatic fast paced conversations/shouting on the one side and sometimes almost amateurish/Hallmarkian acting and cartoonish conflict solving. The humor also feels misplaced and awkward but again maybe that's exactly the point. To keep the audience confused and anxiety ridden. It makes me think of Birdman and the feeling that movie gave me. I don't know if I like the show but it makes in impact and gets you questioning the purpose of the the whole thing.
Another thing is the enthusiastic/ambitious approach to the job from the staff and shear number that confuses me considering it's a simple sandwich shop and isn't really explained (at least not in season 1).
I'm not sure I would continue watching this show if it wasn't so praised and if I had went in blind.
I started watching Sugar yesterday. I enjoyed the first episode quite a bit. Its story is compelling and fun, but the choices they make about its form, the way it's shot and edited, gives it a lot of freshness I had not seen from a series before. There's also Colin Farrell.
