A determined bookstore owner in Tulsa moonlights as an investigative journalist, digging into local corruption. When his reporting uncovers sinister connections, he must protect both his family and the truth.

Also, The Chair Company is unbelievable and I don't know why. Its from Tim Robinson and Zach Kanin (I Think You Should Leave.) This is great --- bizarre and perfect and might also be the best new series... at least right now.

I recently saw someone mention Are You Afraid of the Dark (1990 version) somewhere (I thought it was Tildes but I can't find the comment). I was born in 1995 and never watched the show. When it was on the air or in re-runs I was young enough that it would have been 2spooky4me. But it's late October so I figured I should give it a shot. With old anthology shows like this I like to check the IMDb scores and watch a few of the top episodes.

    So far I've seen:

    • S3E10 - The Tale of the Dream Girl
    • S5E1 - The Tale of the Dead Man's Float

I'd rate "Dream Girl" as fairly mid, but the

bit became an overused trope in 1999 after this episode's release so I'll cut them some slack. Decent execution, but the 23 minute runtime makes it hard to develop a story.

"Dead Man's Float" is better. I liked the monster design, the story, and characters. It felt fun and creative.

I'll probably watch a couple more episodes. So far it feels like the best part of the show is the title card with the hand holding the match. It was the only thing I remembered about the show, and for good reason. It's the perfect amount of creepiness and a beautiful aesthetic. The music, the smoke - *chef's kiss*.
