TV Tuesdays Free Talk
Have you watched any TV shows recently you want to discuss? Any shows you want to recommend or are hyped about? Feel free to discuss anything here.
Please just try to provide fair warning of spoilers if you can.
Anybody else seeking out somewhat older shows that feel like home and demand very little of your brain given... gesticulates wildly...all this?
Psych, IT Crowd, Gravity Falls, and Haikyuu have been frequent flyers at my house this summer.
I am thinking of watching Eureka and Warehouse 13.
That was the best era for SyFy. I loved both.
If you have any interest in the variables at play behind a new sitcom, the commentary tracks for The IT Crowd are excellent.
Have been throwing on Parks and Rec the past few days. Was on an episode where they meet Colts players and I went to see what year it was from and saw 2013...did not realize the show is nearly a decade and a half old.
It also hit me just how little TV shows like that cross my path these days. Not that they don't exist (eg saw commercials for St. Denis Medical during football games), but that 15+ years ago easy sitcom comedies seemed to have a lot more public discourse. The last ones I can think of were Brooklyn 99 and The Good Place.
But this likely just goes back to how there's a lot less "mainstream" stuff with everyone in their own little niches.
Oh, also Dragon Ball has very much been on that itch for me. Created a playlist on Plex that goes through Dragon Ball -> DBZ -> DBGT with movies inbetween episodes that roughly fit timelines that I can just throw on without having to think, having used a script to cut out the OP/EDs so that it's just the actual episodes playing (shout out to the SOM release to watch it in it's OG dub glory).
It's crazy how dumb the show is now not being 12 years old but I still love it, and just hits that nostalgic "home" feeling so hard.
That DBZ project sounds really neat.
I never got into Parks and Rec. I did really enjoy Reno 911 though!
I was excited for Lucky, but its such a snoozer. If it gets better reviews as it goes, I'll get back in -- but as it sits, its lacklustre. It has a great cast, which is a shame.
I'm close to finishing Taskmaster S16. I'm not going in order, but after this I have decided to go back and do so. I've been cherry picking based on the cast.
I'm really enjoying Sugar. Last season had a wild twist that is absolutely unnecessary. Its like they were in a pitch meeting and it wasn't getting a lot of interest so they threw that out and the execs perked up. Silly.
If you're of a certain age and not watching X-Men 97, definitely get into it. Its as good as the original, if not better and darker.
