TV Tuesdays Free Talk
Have you watched any TV shows recently you want to discuss? Any shows you want to recommend or are hyped about? Feel free to discuss anything here.

Oh man I'm obsessed with Lanterns. It's getting very very good and all the actors are fantastic.
I'm loving the lived in DC universe that doesn't try to reinvent origin stories or start from scratch. Adds an entire dynamic of worldbuilding we don't often get to see.
Plus it's got me all hot and bothered to make me a replica of Hal's ring and lantern, so I'm dusting off my SLA printer and started modeling out the ring so it's sized to me and is screen accurate. Also going to see if I can fit a smart ring into the 3D Print, so I can pick up a cheap chinese smart ring and connect it to an open source non-chinese app. If that doesn't pan out I was thinking of adding a programmable NFC or RFID chip into it so I can use it as a keycard for work.
And I've already ordered a magnetic activated lighting mechanism for the ring, and a cheap chinese "aurora night light" device for the lantern.
Also I watched Neagley this week and that was also fantastic, surprisingly so. I really appreciate the show for humanizing the protagonist. While Reacher usually gets painted as a stoic tank with everything figured out, Neagley's dealing with trauma and still getting to be a badass.
I had to look the actress who played Neagley up, Maria Sten, and was surprised to find out that she was was crowned Miss Denmark 2008 in a beauty pageant. And it really made me appreciate the actress and the showrunners for not reducing her character to overt sex appeal which other shows would have done in an instant, and instead characterizing Neagley more modestly.
Finale of Reacher was also great but a bit forgettable. This season was definitely weaker than others. I feel like the two assassin women were turned into cartoon knife twirling villains, the only thing they were missing were mustaches and a tophat.
Finally watched Common Side Effects last week, after first seeing the pilot a year ago. Really good show, with quality character writing and some stellar voice acting performances. I saw the influence of Hayao Miyazaki, Satoshi Kon, and Masaaki Yuasa in certain parts - three of my favorite animators. Also, whoever the music coordinator was did not miss once with the featured songs!
I was not expecting it to span multiple seasons when I started, so it'll be interesting to see where they go from here... I've seen mention of plans for 20 seasons, and despite the quality I don't know if this will garner enough viewership to support a quarter of that.
Dallas has a lot of things that haven't aged well... and this isn't the worst, but in the second episode a bunch of them go to the HOT NEW DISCO CLUB and what song comes on? A goddamn disco version of the Dallas theme!
