I was on the edge of my seat half the episode, waiting to see what the solution would end up being. I think it turned out pretty well, although I'm not sure the demons got a good deal out of it. I keep waiting for a revelation that this entire thing was another test for the Soul Squad. And are they ever going to do something about the Good Place people being naive and ineffectual?
IMO, Shawn could have been convinced with the idea that they still get to psychologically torture people, and can rotate or revert inhabitants to better deal with the inherant nihilism on both...
IMO, Shawn could have been convinced with the idea that they still get to psychologically torture people, and can rotate or revert inhabitants to better deal with the inherant nihilism on both sides of the torture equation. Even if he only cares about himself and is happy torturing humans, he's not content with it as is, and if humanity's population and death rates stay stable, maybe he'd be aok with less humans to manage, if it meant more humans to mess with and he could enjoy his time on the ones that really belong in the Bad Place. Quality over quantity.
