Schitt's Creek was a bit wonky for the first half dozen episodes, but I've grown to love it. The cast is wonderful and while we're only halfway through the six-season run, there hasn't been a drop in quality at all. My girlfriend and I tend to watch one show at a time, and this has actually temporarily displaced...

Battlestar Galactica. We're up to Season 4 I think and fucking love it. So much. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the Season 3 arc, and feel it is so far the weakest, but it changed the characters a lot. Season 4 is better. I'm actually already looking forward to re-watching it in the future.

That’s fine, I guess? I watched it in broadcast order and it was fine.

I'm in Australia and watching it on Stan, a local streaming service. I caught it fishing on the high seas a while ago, but being able to skip the loooooong intro means we stream.

"Ew David" is one of those TV lines that will be with us for years to come. Great show.

So for something a little different this week, the spouse and I have been watching Rick Steves' Europe on PBS. Rick Steves is the whitest, nerdiest guy you can imagine. In each show he goes to a particular country and talks about its history and culture and shows what it's like there now. It's half travel show, half art history show. It's a lot of facts, but there's something relaxing about just zoning out and seeing where he takes you next.

He's basically the Bob Ross of travel.

great minds! I haven't followed them, but my mother is a Rick Steves fanatic after she used his audio tours, which are totally free.

    • ESPN 30-for-30 has a four part series titled, The Life and Trials of Oscar Pistorius. Oscar Pistorius is a professional sprinter who is most widely recognized for two things: 1. his artificial limbs (giving him the nickname, Blade Runner) and 2. murdering his girlfriend. As with most ESPN 30-for-30 episodes, I have little interest in the sport itself, but get totally sucked into the episodes.
    • Warrior, the original series that Bruce Lee pitched which later was stolen from him and made into Kung Fu is in its second season. I love this show. It's not the best show, per se, but its very good. The casting is pretty great and I love the way they handle multiple languages. It's great to see Lee's vision -- or at least a better version of his vision.
    • Lastly, Ethan Hawke is heading up The Good Lord Bird. Hawke, in my book, is one of the better actors of our time. The series just started, but I think it'll be a real doozie.

Ethan Hawke stars as abolitionist John Brown in this limited series based on the novel. "Onion" is a fictional enslaved boy who becomes a member of Brown's family of abolitionist soldiers and finds himself in the 1859 raid at Harpers Ferry

All in all, we're in a pretty good season for the small screen.
