We also started Hacks on HBO Max. We're about 4 episodes in and really enjoying it. The premise is that an aging Vegas comedien is being threatened with having her shows replaced with younger acts. Meanwhile an impulsive young TV comedy writer in Hollywood loses her job and basically gets black-balled because of an insensitive Twitter thread. Their manager-in-common tricks them into working together to revive each of their careers. It's sort of an odd-couple/buddy series. They slowly learn to trust and respect each other, which neither would have imagined was possible. They both also deal with their own issues.

We caught up with The Other Two. It's pretty hilarious. As mentioned last week, it's about an adult brother and sister dealing with their 13 year old brother's sudden fame via TikTok. This week they joined a celebrity church only to find out that it's run by some not-so-nice people.

For the big three I'm going with:

    Drama Series: The Crown

    Comedy Series: Ted Lasso

    Limited Series: The Queen's Gambit

I enjoyed this show quite a bit. However, I think the reaction to it was overblown. It is a cool show, but very uneven. In my opinion, it is far from being worthy of an Emmy.

I finished reading Pride and Prejudice a few days ago and decided to tuck into the 1995 mini-series. I enjoyed the book, but I really enjoyed the miniseries.

I'm giving Only Murders in the Building one more week to get its shit together. It's too over-the-top in the cheapest ways. I like Steve Martin and I like Martin Short, but I don't think I like them together. It always results in Short showboating around etc etc.

Jeopardy is back on Wednesday and my favorite not-Jeopardy game show, The Hustler is back on Thursday.

Not sure why that wasn't more noticed, but Netflix introduced a semi random feature that I found pretty cool. I've longed for something like that for quite a while. You basically hit a button and it will load something cattered for you based on the algorithm. If you don't like it, you can hit it again without leaving the current video. Just watching something without looking reviews is so liberating. I ended up watching the awesome and super fun docuseries Cocaine Cowboys because of that. Also a documentary short about a priest from an Scottish town that was struck by mass murder and his pen pal, a traumatized priest from Sandy Hook. Very moving.
