Rosny and it was superb, written in 1911 but it never felt like it unlike many other fantasy-esque works from around that time. A fantastic story of life and adventure in the stone age and has a nice focus on the animal life around the nomads. Thrilling battles with cannibals and all sorts I flew through it, the one I read was the 2020 translation.

There used to be a loophole where you could grow magic fungus rather than mushrooms but again all closed with that law. I'd love to have a go at it myself but I doubt any reputable business will even attempt to import it especially now the new post brexit rules have come in and everything has to be checked. I'll just have to make do with the illegal plants I already grow lol

Though I now use Mull because I like the privacy improvements. Still don't have a dark mode though.

As for notifications on PC I use linux so I seldom get them for something I'm not initiating but I have them muted anyway so the queitly pile up and I clear them when needed. But I did have to fix an issue in my mums laptop last week and my god windows sure loves to give you notifications about all sorts of utter rubbish and reminds me why I switched.

It's quite grim in places but you follow someone who grew up in that world of every station being controlled by different factions and the new economy and new enemies.
I really enjoyed the books and the audio version is very good as well.

If I want to watch legal streaming on my computer I have to use specific browsers to get actual HD content for example. Installing a torrent client on a device isn't difficult nor is it hard to simply search for a torrent site and begin downloading, in fact it can be done far quicker than signing up for netflix.
Ease of use? How is scrolling through netflix easier than scrolling through a page of torrents? I can also take my pirated media anywhere, can I do that with streaming? Also most media players on PC like VLC contain an option to begin where you left off.
Inexpensive? Well piracy is free...
Fine quality? Again depends on hardware and use case but ultimately no streaming service is doing what a bluray rip is and I've never had a torrent demand I install Edge to view it in HD.
In every way piracy is the superior way to view content.

I use Librewolf with setting that basically mean the browser is like new everytime I open it, I don't leave anything signed in and no history saved. The only thing saved is the extensions I use and my bookmarks. I use Tampermonkey scripts, libredirect, ublock with everything enabled in the languages I use and auto reject cookies; I don't even see the cookie warnings on most sites anymore they get rejected instantly and if a site doesn't let me do that I just close the window since it's rare I actually need to get on it.
I also moved to Linux (ZorinOS specifically) a couple of years ago because windows is such a bloated data harvesting tool and I find that sure there's a few more things I need to google to work out but the actual user experience of using linux feels like using an old version of windows but modernised.
Took the same attitude with my phone and use a locked down browser (Mull) and predominately free opensource apps when I can. It's a real pain though as it required a fair bit of learning and trial and error before I got to this point all to use my own devices that I paid for as I see fit rather than in a way that's profitable for a corporation.

Works on Firefox based android browsers too though I prefer newpipe x sponsorblock for mobile. Combined with ublock origin it actually makes youtube pretty decent to use heavily.

Whenever it was that they started doing their random username suggestion was the beginning of the end for me as bots turned from an annoyance to an infestation.
Reddit for me was like an old school forum but instead of focusing on one thing it was everything but now it's so far from that concept I don't even recognise what it actually is. When I deleted my account and scrubbed my comments it just got tossed on my big list of garbage social media sites I wont use. My only lingering thoughts about reddit is 'what a shame' because it was once and could still have been a great site but as usual greed destroyed it and there's nothing really left now except the shuffling undead remnants scraping along with bots shouting at each other reposting the same tired old crap.

The story was interesting but really weak and just not fleshed out enough for me to care about the time war or either side or even what was actually happening. The romance also did nothing for me if anything it seemed to come out of nowhere and I just couldn't understand why they felt that way about each other. I could see them being able to relate to each other as the only 2 really in the same situation but I just didn't 'get it'.
I guess it's just not my kind of SF or love story which is a shame because I wanted to like it but I'm glad that there's room for new artistic or novel ways of doing speculative fiction to become big successes and it being popular is great for the genre overall.

Loving the series it's basically the adventures Robin Hood but told from the perspective of one of his younger companions and Robin is a psychopath. Really great historical fiction and oddly I've learned quite a few things after going on wikipedia rabbit-holes based on things from the book like the 1190 massacre at Cliffords Tower.
After that I'm probably going to start High Steaks by Rob Ulitski, I like the authors previous shorts and I can't not read a book about a mutated super cow killing people.

He can't afford to go private because universal credit for a single person means he can barely afford to buy food for the month never mind anything else.
His GP can only offer pills and nothing else which don't work for him and the DWP hasn't so much as spoken to him since he first applied for benefits. Luckily he has mates and family around but ive always wondered what becomes of those who don't.
The NHS is just woefully under funded and equipped to deal with the mental health crisis the UK is experiencing and its only going to get worse. There's no safety net anymore its just a big black hole and any of us who don't have a big bank balance are but one step from the edge.
It's not nearly as complicated as it used to be. I switched over 2 years ago and I barely have to do anything more complex than I did on windows. I haven't even had to use the terminal in months it's all clicking around a GUI. Same system I have for windows: find a problem then look in options menus if that doesn't work google 'how to do X on linux' and then follow the best looking result.
Honestly most people get scared off I think by the having to relearn how to navigate and where settings are but not so different from getting a new phone you just pick it up as you use it then before you are aware it's just how things are and going back to windows is a little jarring.
I recommend ZorinOS or Linux Mint for stability and familiarity with windows for new users, or if you're up for something more customisable, faster to update, or like gaming then Manjaro has been wonderful for me and I'm not even remotely a power user.
