I was working a booth at my city's comic expo 6 or so years ago and on my break decided to go check out the booths for some local animal shelters so I could go pet some dogs. While I'm there this little French Bulldog walked up to me from outside of the booth's space, followed closely behind by Carrie Fisher. So I give him a little attention until he wants to go sniff someone else, stand up and say:
Elo: "What's this little sweetheart's name?"
    Carrie: "His name is Gary."
Elo: "Gary Fisher, I love that!"

She laughed a little bit and went on her way keeping an eye on Gary, and that was our whole interaction.

I've always felt odd about seeking out the chance to meet a celebrity in any circumstance, for a long list of reasons I won't get into, so having a chance to have a relatively normal banter purely by happenstance is just about the only way I'd want it to go (shy of them deciding they were done with their fortune and deciding to bequeath me their wealth, obviously)

EDIT: Thought of a similar second example. I was at The Game Awards (in I think 2019). Vin Diesel presented some award or another and during his speech he fumbled a tiny bit and then gave a quick and very sweet story about how his daughter told him something about not giving up. Anyway, after the show as everyone was leaving the room, I was looking for a friend in the crowd when someone bumped into me. As I turned around, I was right beside Mr Diesel himself, and had made eye contact with him. I said "Hey, that story you shared about your daughter was so cute, thanks for sharing", and he said "Thank you, my kids are the light of my life," took a beat to keep eye contact, and then kept pushing through the crowd with his group.

The Marcus King Band - Marcus King
My introduction to them was this video right here!

Excellent blues album, and the singer caught me so off-guard. Someone shared a link to them that I saw a couple days after my dad passed away. He and I were always telling each other about new music, or whenever we heard something that reminded us of one another. This was the first artist I could never share with him and I just laid in bed drowning in the album the song I linked came from for the entire day. I was devastated, but it really helped me appreciate what an incredible bond we had shared, even if in the moment I felt like it was ripped away from me never to come back. I think he'd've loved this album. There's been hundreds more songs and artists since that've reminded me of him, but this is the one that always shows up first.

Other than that, he used to play the intro to Thunderstruck over and over again whenever we were in the car, so I can't hear a lil Angus Young anymore without remembering that goof.

I, clearly along with many others, recently left Reddit and have personally decided not to return unless it sees drastic, lasting change. However, this has made it clear just how reliant I was on the site for multiple aspects of my life, ranging from local and world news, to hobby related announcements, to perspective, advice, and memes directly from marginalized communities. In Tildes I've already found some of what I've been missing, and I'm sure I'll find more as the community continues to grow, but Tildes doesn't have the same setup to allow for finding the same niche communities that I once had (nor should Tildes ever need to have that).

With all of that said, what gaps are you currently experiencing? Have you found any good sites or resources that have helped you or might help others in the thread?
