Love Ghost Trick! I played it a few months ago. Yeah the puzzles are mostly straightforward (I think the most trouble was where I overlooked a movement point on one) but they are very satisfying to solve and at times hilarious in their results. Which makes sense because that's how Ace Attorney can be too.

I really enjoyed Dredge too. The only part I thought could have been improved is the sense of dread is really well done in the early areas but then when you go to the last two there's not as much fear of the unknown/thallasophobia.

I hope at some point there's a sequel as I think there's plenty of room for more Lovecraft stories told around a fishing game.

I've gotten a bit addicted to Against the Storm. It's a fantasy roguelite city builder game where you establish several colonies each run by fulfulfilling the Queen's demands and making your different groups of citizens happy. There are a ton of upgrades that add both features and complexity between each colony build. After so many years have elapsed a storm comes and wipes your colonies from the map and you start fresh (but retain your unlocked upgrades).

I'm pretty new to the game but each colony build seems to takes a few hours. There are different difficulty levels you can play with higher rewards for each. The difficulty levels actually add features/complexity to the game and seem really well thought-out.

Each colony build can have a different biome and different environment modifying effects that affect the colony. Also, you have 3 different species that change between colonies and each specie has different needs and specialties.

I especially love how you learn most of the gameplay as you progress.

Yeah, from what I read termination shock is pretty fucking scary. Like the potential to cause a worse extinction event then what we are already seeing.

Also, isn't there the potential that a billionaire or group just decides to start geoengineering without the consent of other people or other governments? From what I can tell, there are no treaties or laws in effect to really stop this. I don't think someone could do it without some forewarning since these all seem to be massive projects, but we have too many misguided billionaires so please no one tell musk about solar radiation management or he'll likely start shooting X particles into the air.

I just found it wild and refreshing that the movie is selling so well. I won't get my hopes up but maybe we'll see another form of the Venture Bros sometime in the future.

We then played Castles of Burgundy which I haven't played in a few years. The game plays so well, there's a reason it's a classic.

    A couple I haven't noticed yet:

No Thanks! it's good with larger groups because it's simple choices - you either take the card showing (cards numbers 2-35 with some randomly secretly removed) or put a token on the card and pass making it cheaper. When all of the cards are out then the lowest score wins ( add values on all cards minus tokens). The trick is cards you collect that form a sequence you only count the lowest numbers card in the sequence so if you have 25 26 27 you only count the 25.
Camel Up is great fun - everyone is making bets on a camel race where the camels can stack on top of each other leading to wacky unexpected outcomes.
Bang! The Dice Game is a social deduction a bit like old West werewolf with dice. It plays pretty quick so even with player elimination you're only out for a few minutes.

Yeah I love Two Rooms and a Boom, and it has a ton of replay value because you can keep adding in different roles as people get the hang of it. I recommend playing at group sizes of 10+ or 12+ though I hear the expansion helps with smaller groups. It also helps to have a moderator to handle the clock and give a minute warning to prepare the exchange of people.

Historically Zelda dungeons contain several aspects:

    1. larger amount of enemies with some rooms only opening after defeating enemies
    2. multiple puzzles that have to be solved to advance to new rooms or the boss chamber
    3. new equipment or ability item being found by either solving a puzzle or defeating a mini-boss
    4. ends with a boss that then rewards you with a heart container and a main quest story item

There may be others that I'm missing like a compass and map and treasure chests scattered throughout.

It's been some time since I've played botw, but I think it has all but #3 for the divine beasts, right? I don't think this counts as a glorified shrine of it hits each aspect except one.

I started to read Waybound and then realized I haven't reread the last 2 and was a bit hazy. So I'm in the middle of a quick reread starting with Wintersteel because I just love the character interactions and crescendo of that book so much (plus points!), and I'm almost through with Dreadgod. It's really fun paying attention to Eithan's perspective on this reread.

I remember joining r/iteration110cradle after reading the first book and being extremely curious about why they would ban turtle posts. I think that was around when Ghostwater came out?

What did you think of The Captain?
