Need to apply lacquer on a mild steel product that is zinc plated and has some vibratory surface polishing on top of it, which wears the zinc down a bit.

Need to pass 500 hours on a British Standard salt spray test (BS EN ISO 9227: 2017)

If anyone has any sources on a good lacquer supplier please let me know. Tried one by LVH coatings but it didn't pass more than 300 hours.

It's really hard on the knees too. I have a partial tear in my meniscus because of playing on an artifical turf myself. I know many people who got ACL tears because of playing on turf as well.

We refinish stuff all the time mate. We use a small blowtorch to burn the powder off, sand blast the product, clean it with acid, plate it again. And then powdercoat it.

Usually does the job but is quite a bit of time and effort. If you can take your keyboard to a powdercoating job shop I'm sure they'd help you out.

The product is cleaned with hcl first. Then a sulphuric acid light rinse. Followed by alkaline zinc plating.

After which there's a black colour dip which has some nitric acid. The end product is black colour zinc plating. And on this we do powdercoating. It's becoming a right pain whenever this happens.

The powdercoating department blames the zinc plating department and vice versa. Leads to a loss of time, material and effort basically.

I'm not sure what outgassing means. Would you mind explaining it mate?

Edit: I just searched up about outgassing. I think you're right, this is what might be happening.

I've been having issues with powdercoating on top of zinc plated mild steel sometimes. Have issues like small dots visible instead of a smooth texture.

It looks like how a zit or pimple looks on the skin.

After zinc plating, it is pre heated for 15 mins at 150 degrees celsius. Then sand it with some 80 no sandpaper. Finally powder coat it and cure it again for 20 mins.

Amy inputs would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

    Edit:
Hi guys, I posted recently about facing issues with powdercoating zinc plated mild steel. And I'm really thankful for all the responses I got. The zit like small dots I had last time were pretty much solved with outgassing.

I am now facing another issue where the product has sort of tiny indents or pinholes. I can get my nail in them. Shared some photos below. If you guys could shed some light on what these are and why this is happening despite outgassing, it would be great.

Currently outgassing the parts at 250 degrees celsius for 30 mins. The curing temperature after that is 200 degrees celsius for 20 mins.

So here I am, not as well prepared as I usually am. Would love to hear what you guys love doing when in Singapore. I'm not someone who enjoys nightlife/clubbing. Good food and cocktail bars are more my speed. Already booked a nice looking place called Candlenut for a meal.

Any sightseeing recommendations would be really helpful as well. Thanks guys.

Adding the links to my list. Kichisen and Salmon and Trout both look amazing, thank you. There seems to be way too much to do overall in Japan. Can already see myself planning another trip here soon.

Yeah we do enjoy cocktail bars. But I've never been someone who likes to be out post 11-12 am. So Kyoto might be good for us. Will definitely take a look at the Gojodori area.

The Nestay Inn that you linked is not available around my travel dates unfortunately so will take a look at some other places. My wife wants to stay in Shibuya, Shinjuku or Asakusa. But I am still leaning towards Otsuka. Also I've heard there's been a shortage of Suica cards so looking into alternatives.

My wife was just talking about this place. Will definitely visit. Also do you think Mt Fuji is worth visiting? We're thinking about adding a day in Tokyo so that we can do a day trip to Mt Fuji.

Not interested much in nightlife or partying. But we do enjoy a good cocktail bar and good food. Also planning a day trip to Nara. Any other recommendations about day trips along with any other tips would be appreciated. The amount of places to explore in Japan seem to be endless and I am quite sure we will be planning multiple trips in the future.

But I want this one to be special because it is also our first wedding anniversary. Thanks guys.

You should definitely look at zinc plating as an undercoat to the powdercoating. Just powdercoating is not enough for rust protection.

Or use stainless steel (316 grade is the best for rust protection, but is expensive and has greater hardness which makes machining a bit more time consuming) . Also Take a look at PVD if the budget is high.
