    Personally really enjoy this one. If you like the type of game where you have to combine modifiers to become strong with a huge pool of items to work with, this will scratch that itch.

    Been playing Darkest Dungeon II recently, have beaten the Act 3 boss just yesterday. Despite the initial misgivings that a lot of DD1 fans had about it changing the formula to a roguelite, I think...

    Been playing Darkest Dungeon II recently, have beaten the Act 3 boss just yesterday. Despite the initial misgivings that a lot of DD1 fans had about it changing the formula to a roguelite, I think that it really does a lot to continue where the original left off in its presentation and themes. The artstyle has received a significant bump in my opinion, transitioning from 2D to 3D seamlessly, and the general theme from the first one of fighting back against looming eldritch horrors is tempered with a bit more of a hopeful message without compromising the presentation.

    Combat is fairly similar, but rather streamlined - I like most of what they've done, not having to weigh accuracy against dodge and such. My only complaint here is that the "tokens", little icons that represent status effects, are not explained sufficiently - there is a single static page that lists a lot of tokens and their meaning, but leaves out quite a few more seemingly at random.

    The only real criticisms I have for the game is that parts of the UI feel unpolished or missing features (let me see a relationship web and all my character's goals at each inn without lots of clicking, I beg you) and that I wish they had added more than 1 new character. Overall I'd recommend.

    They likely will do something to reclaim the biggest subs, but when they do that will only throw fuel onto the fire and spook a lot of other moderators.
