I will make an effort to come over! I have a gaming thing that starts at 1pm on Sunday, but I think robot battles stuff starts at 10am, right?

What weight class are you going with? I'm very tempted to get into it (loved BattleBots growing up) but I don't really have space in my life for yet another hobby.
Edit: Also, congratulations on getting into that swordplay workshop. Our friends have been trying to get into that for years with no success except that some slots opened up magically this year for them even with the massive waiting list.

This year I'm specifically looking forward to playing Call of Cthulhu and Mothership for the first time at the gaming hall. I'll most likely end up buying whatever Vonnart's yearly Dragon Con exclusive is because I'm a sucker for his art style. I'm also looking forward eating lunch at Aviva's and their delicious lamb shawarma.
Would love to hear any stories of past Dragon Con experiences and/or what you're looking forward to this year.

Voxavious Link ParentI'll second League of Legends. Tried to get good but couldn't get past the changing metagame strategy, matchups, and specifically the mental game. I love so much about the concept but I have not...I'll second League of Legends. Tried to get good but couldn't get past the changing metagame strategy, matchups, and specifically the mental game.
I love so much about the concept but I have not come across a game that turns normal empathetic humans into their worst selves over the course of an hour like that game does. It's like Lord of the Flies every game, a psychological unwinding that starts subtly at first before cascading into people crucifying each other for not bringing enough pink wards for STUPID AP TEEMO and his STUPID MUSHROOMS.

Dice rolls could be done by the players with scout's honor rules, made by the DM, or a specific "roll keeper" for a thread.
The DM could start a post and create top-level comment threads for points of interest that player characters "sign up" for that is then played out over the week.
Something like:
Session 5: 5/26/25 - 6/1/25
Thread #1 - Point of Interest- DM #1
- Player A
- Player B
Thread #2 - Point of Interest
- DM #1
- Player C
- Player D
- Player E
Thread #3 - Player Notes & Theories
Etc.
Over time, the players could build out maps based on what's been discovered so it's easier for other people to join in. As more people join, more DM's can join and manage various story threads.

Much less litter tracked all over the house.

I wanted a backpack that I could pack for a work trip without fooling with a carryon that could also...After agonizing over reviews and different bag manufacturers, I settled on this one from Aer.
I wanted a backpack that I could pack for a work trip without fooling with a carryon that could also compress down to be a manageable day bag. I was worried it was going to be too big at first, but after using it for the past three months I can safely say it's quite manageable. I genuinely love this bag and it makes me happy every day I get to use it.

The amount of page turning and backtracking makes me feel like a wizard pouring over arcane texts looking to extract their dark powers, but we are having an absolute blast regardless of the ramshackle structure of the system.
I'll have to check out Modiphius! Sounds intriguing.

For me, I've...I've begun collecting various game systems to improve the Curse of Strahd campaign I'm running for some friends: Pathfinder 2e, Fate, Index Card RPG, and Microscope RPG to name a few.
For me, I've shifted from "Let's switch systems at my table," to "How can I elevate the system that everyone already knows."
Every group is different, but this video got me thinking about what's "core" at our particular table and how I, as the GM, have the power make a great campaign regardless of the system used if I understand game fundamentals well enough. https://youtu.be/YD06aKOf_ok
That said, I would be VERY interested to hear if anyone has tried more surreal game systems like Troika! or Electric Bastionland. What was your experience like?

These are amazing. Thank you sharing. Love the guerilla tattoo parlor. We started "coming" in 2020, so we've only experienced post-covid con. I'm sure there's still wild things that happen but based on some stories I've heard (yours now being added to that) it sounds like things are tamer (read: safer) these days.
Did you ever come as just an attendee? I'm sure volunteering is a whole other world of flavors to experience.
