I've seen every Carpenter film except Assault on Precinct 13. 70s cop action films have never been my thing, but knowing that it is closer to a western and, according to wikipedia, inspired by Night of the Living Dead, I may just add this to my movie queue.

The Thing is one of my favorite sci-fi horror films and I watch it with The Thing from Another World every Halloween.

Pontypool has a really cool premise for the source of zombie infection. It reminded me of Cell by Stephen King.

In general, I have a soft spot for everything Frank Henenlotter, Brian Yuzna, Stuart Gordon, and John Carpenter.

Here's the base layer for my Candybar (which is basically an extended version of what I use on my Minivans since they have the same core layout): [_BL] = LAYOUT( KC_ESC, KC_Q, KC_W, KC_E, KC_R,...

Here's the base layer for my Candybar (which is basically an extended version of what I use on my Minivans since they have the same core layout):

    [_BL] = LAYOUT(
      KC_ESC, KC_Q, KC_W, KC_E, KC_R, KC_T, KC_Y, KC_U, KC_I, KC_O, KC_P, KC_DEL, KC_BSPC, KC_PGUP, KC_P7, KC_P8, KC_P9, \
      LT(_R, KC_TAB), KC_A, KC_S, KC_D, KC_F, KC_G, KC_H, KC_J, KC_K, KC_L, KC_SCLN, LT(_R, KC_ENT), KC_PGDN, KC_P4, KC_P5, KC_P6, \
      TD(TD_SFT_CAPS), KC_Z, KC_X, KC_C, KC_V, KC_B, KC_N, KC_M, KC_COMM, KC_DOT, KC_SLSH, RSFT_T(KC_QUOT), KC_UP, KC_P1, KC_P2, KC_P3, \
      KC_LCTL, KC_LALT, KC_LGUI, LT(_L, KC_SPC), KC_TRNS, KC_SPC, TG(_FL), KC_RALT, KC_RCTL, KC_LEFT, KC_DOWN, KC_RIGHT, KC_P0, KC_PENT),

The Candybar doesn't have a lot of bells and whistles, so I only use four layers and there isn't any code for backlighting, underglow, or rotary encoders.

    QMK features:

    • Layer-Tap (LT) on my Tab, Enter, and left Spacebar.
    • Tapdance keycode for my left Shift so that if I double tap it, Capslock is activated but it works like a normal Shift otherwise.
    • Mod-Tap keycode on my right Shift that is a KC_QUOT code when tapped and a KC_RSFT when held.
    • Nothing fancy, but my solution for not having a dedicated Backslash/Pipe key is to use layers to map these codes to the Forwardslash key - Backslash is mapped to the lower layer and Pipe is mapped to the 'raise' layer so that when I hold the left Spacebar, I get KC_BSLS and when I hold Tab (or Enter key, but that's hard to do with the same hand) I get KC_PIPE.

I also experimented with Space Cadet keys, but could never really get into it.

I'm a dedicated 40% user. I went through both an ortho and tactile phase, but I've settled on staggered layouts and linears. I hand lube all of my switches and program all of my boards myself - VIA is nice, but I use some QMK features that aren't available. I exclusively use Cherry profile - a lot of GMK, but some Infinikey and ePBT sets too.

    Some boards/setups that I use:

    • Candybar with Creams (current favorite)
    • Minivan with Banana Splits (I have several minivans all setup the same way, just different aesthetics)
    • Prime_e with Gateron Yellows (I swap between this and the Candybar a lot)
    • Typeau Planck (this is just an expensive show piece since I moved beyond ortho while the group buy was still going)
    • MechMini 2.0 with Zealios

Pick up your book and just read. Promise yourself to read for a certain amount of time, even if that's only 15 minutes. Just keep going. Re-learn the habit of reading.

I go through phases of media consumption and it isn't always easy for me to transition back into "reading mode," so I like to pick up short story collections to help with the "re-learning" part. Depending on the collection or author, it isn't always easy reading, but knowing that I only have to complete 15 pages instead of 300 to get the story works well for me. And then, once I'm in the groove, I'll burn through books like crazy.
