Me and my girlfriend have had to be separated since May 19th and won't be reunited until around the same time in September, and it doesn't help that neither have friends near us right now.
I can't say I ever want to spend an entire third of my year away from my girlfriend ever again, but it will make us stronger once it's over and we'll both be better people for getting through it. I think you'll experience the same thing, so stay strong and find little daily things to look forward to in order to get through it. I believe in you!

If I didn't do that, I'd probably be in a much worse place.
I know it wasn't a split second decision but I really was torn in those months trying to choose between staying here and starting life in a new country.

I'm thinking that if I bring it up with him and have him tell my mom then it won't be as bad because she likely trusts his opinion on medical issues more than mine (which I understand tbf, I'm not even close to studying anything med related) but either way something needs to get done. I'm so tired of being the way I am. I just need help.
Also– I'm not having any trouble coping or dealing with any comorbid issues of ADHD, just in case I came across that way. I just can't continue living the way I have for the last ~20 years!

Another is an established mode of conduct from the getgo, much like tildes or reddit or many other hobby-specific forums (albeit reddit has sort of lost that in recent years due to the shift in focus from link aggregation to pseudo-social media).
Lastly I think that a site that focuses on pushing content where appealing to the lowest common denominator is rewarded, the majority of those consumers will be... Kinda shitty. Not that there isn't good content on youtube, because I follow some truly fantastic creators, but think of how much youtube promotes the Paul brothers despite them being genuinely awful people. When a site promotes civil discussion that prides itself on being as unbiased as possible it will naturally attract people of that caliber who seek good discussion like that.
The mess that youtube is in is a whole mixed bag of shitty circumstances leading to shitty people coming out in droves IMHO.

The problem is...I know I'm a bit late but right now I'm struggling because I came to the realization not too long ago that I've had horrible untreated ADHD for my entire life and that I need help. The problem is that the waiting list I'm on to even receive a clinical diagnosis is a year and a half long, and waiting that long would be a big problem since I'm a university student.
With that being said, I'm currently home for the summer and am in a different country that doesn't have socialized healthcare (can you guess which one?)– but because of that it's way easier to receive treatment for non-emergency medical issues. This would be great if I just went and got some help, but the problem is that in order to start getting treatment I'd have to tell my parents... And they aren't exactly supportive when it comes to mental health issues.
I have a routine checkup this Wednesday so if I can I'm going to try and tell my mom about it before talking to the doctor but otherwise, I'm not really sure what to do...

Think about it– people of all ages, of all ethnicities around the world, spanning both sexes and many religions, political affiliations, and beliefs, use youtube– a 67 year old redneck from Georgia could be having a weird discussion with an 8 year old from Bosnia. That, in combination with your idea that the social "climate" on youtube is self-reinforcing and the fact that a billion unique visitors come to the site every month, leads to a lot of horrible, ugly "discussion" that is hard to escape. That kind of stuff just doesn't happen as much on other social media sites. The only one I can think of that's even comparable in that regard is facebook.

Those people can be really... Serious about their swimming, to put it one way.
To put it another way, there is more than one family who will wait by the gate until the pool opens and won't leave until closes... Every day of every week for the entire summer.
I'm unmedicated so I'm practically useless in anything other than my specific field (audio). Everything else is very hard to do for me. I love reading but am unable to do it as when I get to the bottom of a page I will realize that nothing has sunken in and I have to go back and reread it.... Multiple times on every page. It gets so frustrating that I just give up. Doing assignments/housework is a similar challenge. Hopefully I will be medicated soon though! I'm also interested in trying CBT.
