What looks more deliberate is the sequencing: Infantino announced the FFE, then immediately imposed a September 19 deadline, threatened to cut dissenting members out of future funding, and dangled money incentive to secure buy-in all compressed into the same window as the "shock." That's not the behavior of someone caught off guard; it's pressure engineered to outrun organized opposition. And UEFA's outrage may not be pure either, one insider frames it as a turf war over shifting power from Europe to a more global footprint, which would make the "we were blindsided" framing useful theater on both sides. Fast, loud shock benefits everyone's narrative more than "we knew and let it happen" ever would. Here's an alternative approach that makes FIFA's "shock" even less believable. The Green Bay Packers - American Football Pro Team have run a publicly-owned, shareholder structure since 1923; no single owner, a board and executive committee accountable to fans who hold stock, finances disclosed, and by charter no one can pocket a sale profit because ownership isn't structured to be flipped for private gain. I do hope that Europe's opposition is sincere and block this; but to be a cynic, how it's being done I have my doubts. I do hope European football fans, since I have little regard for American (all of America continent) fans to be able to block this measure.

    Int'l TD in what are Tier 1 football countries like England makes no sense at all. Brasil just like England TDs. There should be quality TDs in-house otherwise it's a loss all around. You can have all the quality players in the world but having a TD that isn't part of the fabric of the country then to me is a gap. Int'l TD will play a 'professional' game which is good in club play but not in Int'l setting. I watch Brasil to see Brasil football not some European positioning and strategy. Makes no sense. Tuchel for all the bad decision that the game versus Argentina showed, it's at least English football I watched. However, I hear his interview and I am at a loss. As the English say, 'being gutted' and what I hear is a typical German response. No knock on German football or country but his respose is typical of a German person speaking and responding. It works for them, but not what I expect from an English TD. Conversely, countries like the USA, it works having Int'l TDs though US Soccer seem hell bent on ruining their experience and knowledge.

Incredible tactical decision. Midfield, forwards had no legs, completely gave up on keeping possession and decided to give the ball to Argentina. Argentina! Luckily the English goalie came out and defended well otherwise it would very well have ended with 4 or 5 goals against England. What was Tuchel thinking! Then to say that he had no regrets! Wow! The English supporters certainly have patience. I am not an English supporters but I was about to throw a brick at the tv. WTF! Players also have responsibility but overall they did their job except for Kane. Nice fellow but he should have been taken out. He was not doing anything on this game.

That was the tactical mistake of the TD. Momentum turned to Argentina, leaving the world's best play maker on his own and then adding more defenders late on the game. Losing the middle to Argentina, England had no legs and that's it. Instead of adding midfield players who could have maintained possession instead the complete opposite was done. Really the game lost due to TD's decision. Of course key players were a no show; Kane are you there? If I was English I would certainly be upset with this game. It was in the bag and to have ended like it did is terrible.

    I am part of the select group who was around for this, however too young to know anything about it. Back then, the 'emergency' was the reason behind it. Was it right? As it turned out, no but they tried. Whatever the right time may be, it's going to be a PITA to do. Change is hard no matter when it's done and will always have it's detractors. Personally in the winter I get up early enough to be out the house to work/school etc., in the dark and return home in the dark so to me it's not a big deal. Others, in my own family will be a big deal.

It didn't change the outcome of the game but imagine if it had, then what? We don't know what may happen until the fat lady sing, to use an American colloquialism. Imagine the 10 minutes of ARG vs Egypt. That may have happen in this match with France and then what? Go back and re-address a bad call? Makes no sense to me.

    My concern is simple, VAR for the good that it is; how it's currently being implemented is terrible for the game. It's not a question of, "can we introduce technology helpers", it's a question should we have it. If we should, to what extent? If VAR is what you want, then remove field referee, not needed. Is that too much? What is the level that would be acceptable? Introducing the whole Maradona hand of god, flopping, missed foul, wasting time etc., is to me not a good argument. It's like asking why the Medieval ages took a 1000 years to 'fix' things? If we want to fix what is 'bad' then ok, let's fix it and be done with it. The problem with improvement is that the answer inevitably is more technology introduction. Instead of adding, let's remove and start there as a premise and then let's address the 'bad'. FIFA corrupt? Hell that's a hole without a bottom. Just look at the Argentina issue going on now. I do hope that Gianni Infantino get's booted out. I fully support that, he has brought so many issues that I think needs correction. This whole Team USA issue for starters with me. I am a Team USA supporter but I have to accept the cheater name calling. It's right. We have been stained by our adorable President. Anyway, FIFA corruption, yeah that's something but it is a different issue from VAR that I hope the Europeans fix, somehow.

He is not developing the game, he is sit-and-wait predator; you give him space, it's over! Look at what he did to Egypt, he felt that game bc he had the strong smell of losing that game. I think the players to watch will be Julian Alvarez and Jude Belligham. The middle has been traditionally the difference maker so if ENG is able to control the middle, and strike with the right pace they should win. Again ENG is the favorite, no doubt about it. ARG is really a 10 man roster with 1 sniper waiting in the shadows. If Messi comes out and plays like he use to, ENG will be in trouble.

Hoboken and NJ in general suffers from NIMBY a lot so that’s why Mount Laurel. Hoboken I think in addition to NJ NIMBY issues has the biggest problem of having NYC next door. It has nothing except location to make money on, property taxes are not going to cover it all so they need something else, location location is all they got. Ain’t nothing else, nobody going to Hoboken for bars, food or culture if you are visiting NYC.

    I disagree, it’s not better or worse. Different, maybe. Women sports in general don’t get the respect but that’s a different point. In terms of football, women’s football has gotten better, initially it wasn’t great. Something similar to women’s basketball in terms of physical contact allowance and referees out of touch. Today’s football women matches are better, less physical contact allowance and incredible talent that has made the game better. Is it the same as men’s football game, I think so but that’s my opinion.
