CNN represented a change. Seeing it diminish and perhaps die, that was predictable. The ever changing world doesn't appreciate the rapid change that has and will continue to be. For those of us who can say, "I was there when...{fill in your blank}...". That sounds silly to others who don't understand and maybe years from now you will. I heard that often enough, that am repeating it. I, understand.

One thing to keep in mind is that to get a "Real ID" driver's license a federal document can be used and the most likely document is a passport. That type of license (identification) is needed to travel inside the country, let alone external. Dead beats shouldn't get a free ride but having a state issue become a federal issue without due process I think should raise concerns.

So I am still on the hunt for the 2026 great trail adventure. In my research, I found this item: …feral cows take over a remote Alaskan island

On the surface, Alaska as a whole appears an odd choice for cattle: mountainous, snowy, far from lucrative markets. But we’re here in June, summer solstice 2022, at “peak green,” when the archipelago oozes a lushness I associate with coastal British Columbia and the Pacific Northwest. The islands rest closer to the gentle climate of those coasts than to the northern outposts they skirt

It's a long read and at least for me, I find it so interesting. Mother nature may be impartial, sometimes cruel, sometimes not but nature seems to find a way forward.

I wasn't going to comment but after reading this stuff. Indigenous peoples have been getting the short side of life from many places so not totally surprised by it, though disappointed by it. I don't know much about Denmark and if Dane ppl are really that bad when it comes to parenting. In theory I support it, I suppose a country in relation to others that has a homogeneous population can put together a test like this but when you add a mixed population that theory breaks down quick. This is another example of government not being agile enough. I bet ppl in Denmark think this is stupid but government being government, it just keeps on doing it.

Darn, I have no experience like what you have just gone through. Back in the late 90s I had a basement flood. I had a sump pump but the amount of water due to the weather system was overwhelmed by the volume of water. Point being that everything in the basement needed to be replaced, boiler, water heater, washer, dryer. The fun part of it all, I even lost an older car that was also flooded, I had it parked outside and can you imagine that the water was so high that the car got flooded. Anyway, I had FEMA etc., that supposively was to provide"relief" or "help". Almost 30 years and I am still waiting. It cost me an arm and leg as you can imagine but prompted me to help myself. Meaning prepare for the worst case scenario and take steps to lessen the impact. Since then I have had floods etc., but the impact for me on the personal side is less. So my advice is simple; education is expensive (ask anyone who is paying for it now!) but learn the lesson and prepare, prepare, prepare... This one is going to hurt, no doubt. I feel your pain. All I can say is that tomorrow is another day, and take steps for the tomorrow's tomorrow.

NJ didn't, the organizers did and that was back for the 2018. As a shock, Qatar won the games so it was put in the back burner. Back then, Federal government was fully behind the bid, with commitment for extra funds to the state for these games. Different time, and people today. FIFA got called out for the 2018 bid, with the scandals etc., that I believe the results of this year, but then again, different time and people at the federal level, meaning President/congress etc., However the 2018 game bid, if I recall did not call for the finals to be hosted in this area, it was to be in California. I think this time NJ was selected due to time considerations with Europe and other cities that watch the games live.

It operates this route, however that's typically on weekends AND that's with allowing parking at the stadium. Parking from what I understand is not going to be allowed at all for these FIFA events.

Some info that people who are not living in the region may not know. Parking at the stadium is not allowed for the game(s). From what I understand, it's a FIFA requirement due to FIFA wanting to have events around the stadium etc., Highly unusual for those of us who live in the metro area since most of us who do live here use our cars to get to the stadium. That impacts NJTransit, which isn't the best, but that's for another day. The stadium holds over 80,000 people. FIFA is not willing to pay or contribute to the 'host' city any money for public/safety support etc., I understand that's true for all others host cities of the past events however that to me makes no sense. FIFA is going to make tons of money on this and the only winner is FIFA. The state, city in other places who hosted FIFA have lost tons of money. Other places have been so eager to host FIFA event that they were willing to do it. I personally don't agree with it. If FIFA is making tons of money, then FIFA should contribute to some of the expenses. If they are not willing then why should tax payers be on the hook. So, if you are willing to pay THOUSANDS of dollars for a ticket to enter the game, accommodations/food etc., then YES, YOU will have to pay lots of money for transportation. It stinks, using people as ATMs but FIFA is more than willing to do it so why not the state. NJ probably won't see a big economic benefit from these events and the thing it does have is location. So, IMO, good for them, have the people pay BIG money; FIFA don't like it, go somewhere else. Personally I am thrilled to have the games around my area, its unfortunate I couldn't get tickets to any game. If I did, I would pay the train ticket price. It's expensive but so were the tickets I was hoping to get, which I didn't get. The cheapest ones I got in a lotto for (nose bleed section) where in the thousands of dollars.
