    What really did it for me was when people were screaming about the slow and terrible flight model early on, and the devs refused to listen.

    I'd be willing to bet the player counts would be much much higher if the actual act of flying were fun. Instead we get school bus simulator in space.

    I'd have like a bajillion hours into that game if the flight model were something like Everspace.

    This isn't entirely true if we are talking about ships that travel at significant factors of C in real space. Even interstellar space isn't totally barren. Lots of random particles floating about...
    1. Aerodynamics are pointless unless the ship is meant to engage with atmosphere, and it's really wasteful to land the whole damn frigate.

    Even interstellar space isn't totally barren. Lots of random particles floating about at extremely low densities. However, when you start moving very very fast it really adds up. When you're moving a few million kilometers per hour, even interstellar dust will create substantial friction and drag.

    I think it shows the beginnings of the shift in corporate mentality from a nearly failed to company into one of the most valuable ones in history.

    I remember playing with that program on power PC's back in high school. It taught me a lot of math things intuitively that would have been much more difficult through traditional methods.

    I think that as we (as a society) become further and further inoculated against advertising, exposure will begin to matter much less.

    I think the downfall of a lot of these youtube stars is the canary in the coal mine.

    Like, OK, someone got 10,000,000 views. I think more people will be asking the question "how is this content meaningful or enriching" in the future.
