First off, sorry for the clutter :P, I know it's pretty bad right now. Also, about WSL, I never really liked it... I'm not really sure, but I just prefer Alpine (plus it is rather lightweight)

I'm currently on my windows 10 laptop, the better of my two laptops (I have another laptop for linux but it's not that good). I keep win10 around because of games, but I have found a way to get my programming done here as well, with an Alpine Linux distro on VirtualBox without a GUI.

Honestly I think karma is the reason Reddit has a reposting problem. People repost to earn pseudo-internet-points and the community's overall experience is diminished... in my humble opinion, I think Tildes should stay out of a gamified karma system that doesn't have too many benefits... though this begs the question, if and how people will be rewarded for good posts

Something similar to alt.org's nethack server? That would be quite the prank, but it could be too much for the server :(

My gripe with all the *bands was generally how grind-y the whole ordeal was... Quickband and Sil were probably the best I found in that category, although I can't say I've beat those either.

Also about its relation to Ruby, it is similar in syntax, but not really much else. The idea is to have a language that is as simplistic as Ruby, but faster. Porting over a current Rails app probably wouldn't have as many performance gains as just building it from the ground up with Crystal in mind. The docs are a great place to get started and learn about the differences and how to use Crystal efficiently.

    On performance: https://crystal-lang.org/docs/guides/performance.

I got into roguelikes because of nethack, but I never ever beat it... I should try sometime, my only problem with it is how it is close to impossible without spoilers.

honestly I am fine with disallowing fluff here... there are many other platforms for finding such content and it isnt necessary imo
