As someone who has read a lot of Russian history, "I have nothing to hide" isn't going to help you if there's a technicality in the law you're not aware of, or a third party decides to plant something illegal for their own gain.. A lot of fools got sent to the gulag in the 1930s and 1940s because they had nothing to hide and "did nothing wrong".

Agreed on this... they'll just break a window or kick the door open to get in. The way to go is get insurance or move. If you go the insurance route, spend a couple of hours Googling "renters insurance claim denied" to make sure you don't get caught without coverage, for example if someone lives with you that's not on the policy.

I also recommend getting a wireless security system with at least an interior camera (wireless so they don't follow the wires to the DVR). You'll also want to hide the DVR. You can easily configure the units to alert you immediately via SMS or e-mail when motion is detected, and that gives you a chance to have someone interrupt the burglary or call the cops. In OP's situation I might even start looking for ways to activate an alarm remotely... once an alarm is sounding, most burglars will get out immediately.

I really don't like the direction Firefox is headed in, as they've started forcing users into updating. I don't know when this started, but I want to say it was about 1-2 years ago. There are certain tasks I have to run for my business, which uses specific extensions, which don't work with the newest versions. I know how to keep myself safe on the Internet because I'm a developer and stay off shady sites.

Unfortunately, last winter I noticed Firefox was bulldozing right past my settings and updating itself without my consent, even after I killed the update service. I rolled back twice and noticed it kept putting me on the current version. I managed to figure out how to keep the browser at V50.1.0, but it still whines and complains, launching a popup at startup saying that it could not complete updates. No kidding.

Firefox is quickly going a bad path, and I wonder how close we are to Google or Microsoft buying it and stripping away all control.

It looks like a case of "change for the sake of change".
