Not that Facebook is all that great, but I primarily use it for the value of the groups and marketplace. I don't think I've made a profile post in a year or more now.

Engineer here, it depends on many variables, to include when the commercial facility was made, its last renovation, and the current codes/requirements of the local.

Most commercial facilities have higher requirements than residential, just different configurations. The HVAC would likely be the biggest hurdle, not electrical.

However, given the cost an access concerns around steel and concrete, it is still likely that gutting a commercial facility to the studs and revamping it into living spaces is still economical; more so the local governments could subsidize the action, as well.

Better, I've seen malls repurposed into indoor parks, with municipal functions, non-profits, and other public-type works get moved into them so that people can get all of their governmental business done in an indoor cooled area that has access to lots of amenities. I still hate malls, but learning to repurpose old buildings is likely the best way forward instead of letting them go to blight or trashing them.

It's a pretty chill community that I like; being on the major federation, as a whole, is too open to the wild west of the internet, something I grew out of years ago. Without proper guard rails, we already know where the bottom of the barrel is regarding content thanks to the -chan sites, among others.

I am also glad I found tildes, since I am a huge fan of text-only content.

Having a massive "grocery store outlet" for everything versus boutique stores for niche foods; you might want fun candy one day but you want a smoked meats and beer cheese another. The grocery store will have a little of everything, but lack depth. The dedicated store will meet your needs and have a depth to discover.

Tildes is offering my beloved death of text-based consumption and, you're right, squabbles appears to be a great place for the memes.

Simply, you cannot reverse centuries of targeted race-based discrimination without significant targeted race-based support and uplifting. Regardless of whataboutism regarding poor whites or of discriminatory measures, to fix one, you have to at least undo the harm.
