But after watching the anime not too long ago, I was seriously invested and looking forward to more. The way that the story builds up those super dramatic plot points always keeps you on edge while anticipating how conflicts will resolve. And when all the pieces do come together, you get a satisfying resolution that feels fulfilling. It's seriously addictive.
I'm glad the production for this adaptation turned out so good (at least to my standards). I hope that they can continue to deliver a compelling story for the next season. I will certainly be looking out for it.

Despite having watched the show before, it's funny that I still can't connect the dots because of how long it's been.
It seems that Yashiro really might have stopped killing for some time, at least in that particular town. Now he's back to finish the job that was left unfinished for some reason. How's our MC going to outplay this one?
Also, I wonder what Airi is doing at this time. I think she was a high school student in the original timeline (in 2006?) which means she could be in middle school now. Did Satoru's actions influence her path in life?
The part about the spider's thread was interesting as that explains what appeared to be a string attached to Satoru's mother's head in the very first episode. This suggests that we were watching that scene from the killer's point of view as that's the only time the threads are visible to us.
Sorry for the lack of order or structure, these are just random things I thought to blurt out. Looking forward to the last episode. We're already at the end!

I imagined this could be taken as symbolism for her escaping her demise, only to be hit with that nail-biter in the end.
It looks like Satoru's mom and the school teacher know that the protagonist is up to something, and may even know about the bus specifically. The transition from Yashiro's eyes to the floodlights at Izumi Elementary reminds of us his watchfulness in an artistic way and also alludes to his involvement in the situation.
Kenya's an amazing friend to Satoru and I'd think they'd be close friends well into their adult years as well. Yet he was never mentioned in the present timeline. I wonder if the MC ever kept in touch with any of his friends from this time.

First off, it's confirmed that the manager is a creep. This might be obvious to some, but I suspect he dislikes Satoru because of how close he is with Airi. In a previous episode, he gave Satoru a glare, hinting at some underlying animosity. It definitely feels like he's actively trying to screw over the protagonist, though from an outside perspective, he is technically doing the right thing. Perhaps he himself, like Airi, doesn't genuinely believe Satoru is the murderer, but has chosen to take the opportunity to get rid of him for his own gain.
I think it was interesting when Airi asked Satoru if he's stupid because it seemed to have reminded the MC of Kayo since that was her catchphrase. On another note, we all need someone like Airi in our life. She's a real one.

At this point, Satoru doesn't yet fully realize what his Mom had known in the present time, which was that the murderer of Kayo was still on the loose. Because of this, he doesn't know why he was sent back 18 years for the sake of saving his mother. This is an obvious hint that the murders of the two are connected.
Here are some random questions and bits and pieces that stood out to me in this episode (Disclaimer: Though I've already mentioned that I finished this show many years ago, I want to reassure that these are not implicit spoilers. I genuinely don't remember the significance of these things):
- Where did Satoru's gloves go?
- In the middle of the episode when Satoru has a 1 on 1 with the smart friend, Kenya, something interesting happens. Kenya's eyes, which are usually brown, turn red for an instant just as a car loudly passes by.
- What did Satoru write about for his essay?
For some closing thoughts, I was simultaneously happy and sad about the new perspective that Satoru gained at the beginning of the episode when he sees his mother alive again. After returning to the past, our protagonist sincerely treasures the little moments he spends with his mother after realizing how much he took her for granted. I think this is something that a lot of us can reflect on.

I agree that his struggle with relearning his environment from 18 years ago is a nice touch to the whole thing. And regarding the cinematography, I really dig it. The directing makes for a very interesting viewing experience. Particularly the brief fast cut section at the end of the episode (with the blood-stained mittens) was really intriguing. The way that they slot in little hints with the directing is seriously cool. Also completely agree with your point about Kayo's essay not being a red flag for the teachers to take action. How could any adult read that without raising questions? This makes me wonder, maybe this was a real thing for this time period in this region? Also, as you've mentioned, it's clear in the past and the present that Satoru's mom has some real detective energy, or as the MC puts it himself, "yokai".

With that said, the first episode was really thrilling and nerve-racking to watch and I can't wait to get through the rest of the show! I always found that rewatching shows will shed light on seemingly new details that were missed the first time around, and this is certainly no exception.
One thing that stood out to me was the SFX. The sounds used in this episode were haunting and sort of creepy. I believe the jarring feel and suspense can be credited to the sudden (and sometimes startlingly loud) sound elements well-placed in key moments. It has that effect of making the hairs on the back of your neck stand at any given moment.
The song at the end of the episode was really nice.

As you've mentioned yourself, one of the biggest problems was the rising LP ceiling causing many players to be perma stuck and essentially having nowhere to go. With increased LP gains, I think there were quite the number of diamond players recently peaking masters. Coupled with a high entry requirement for GM, if I remember correctly, the percentage of players in masters+ has been the highest ever (please correct me if I'm wrong).
I don't think these changes are particularly bad at least, and as a platinum player I won't really be affected anyway.
On another note, this is the first time I've seen a post about League on this website. Thanks for your contribution!

As for show suggestions, I think anything that'll spur folks to participate in the thread is perfect for this kind of thing. Since we'd probably want to avoid the situation of people not participating due to having watched the anime not too long ago, perhaps going with a show that wasn't aired recently would increase participation? Then again, this is assuming the majority of the users here currently watch regularly. Either way, your initial proposal is a very solid option and I'd totally be down to watch Erased.
Some suggestions off the top of my head: Terror in Resonance, Kids on the Slope, and 86 (might be too recent) are all around 12 episodes long.

I have mostly just been following along with Oregairu S3, SAO War of Underworld Part 2, and Re:Zero S2. I am enjoying all of them so far. Due to being busy with school and other life issues, it looks like it'll be hard to keep up with more shows, much less pick up anything from the upcoming season.
I wish you all the best.

(sorry if this "review" seems a bit negative at the beginning)
Watching this felt stifling for some reason
I hadn't seen the previous seasons in a long, long time (I watched when they aired, I think). I didn't love them to be honest, they were kind of boring. Later on, I thought that it might have been because I was too young at the time to understand the stylistic nuances. Nope, it's still mildly boring 5+ years later, now in the new season. On top of that, I forgot a lot of stuff :9I still thoroughly appreciate it for what it is
Art and characters (the visual design as a whole, really) looks spectacular
Dialogue is witty and sophisticatedMC's voice is still a little hard to listen to
It's almost like drinking tea
It's nice; its refinement can be well-appreciated and savoured by the right people. While, on the contrary, could also taste stale and bland to others. Or a conflicting mix of both, in my case
Of course, it's only one episode in. There is plenty of room for developments in the story and, in turn, my opinions.
Nevertheless, I'm going to watch it thoroughly till the finale, because if I don't, I will be haunted by the spirits for not tying up the loose ends.jk
thanks for reading, especially through my unconventional formatting -

BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad
Has anyone seen this one? It seems somewhat unpopular, this could be attributed to the fact that it aired in 2004, but I digress.
Currently, I am about 17 episodes in and it's very interesting to watch. The storytelling definitely has that "old" feel to it. However, with all due respect, there's a lot to dislike about this show. Of course, not all shows are for everyone, but this one in particular may be more of an acquired taste. The anime is based around a boy and his adventures with music, rock to be specific. It's fast and slow, real but fantasy. Some things linger, and some things pass by as if it never happened. The best way to describe this show is that it's rough around the edges. I can see why it doesn't have a large amount of fans, but it's a very interesting experience nonetheless. Personally, I enjoy it. In addition, the soundtrack is great!
Nakitai Watashi wa Neko wo Kaburu
This is a movie that just became available today. I haven't watched this one yet. I stopped 9 minutes in earlier this afternoon due to some.. circumstances. However, I plan on watching it from start to finish tonight. It's an hour and 44 minutes long, has something to do with cats, and is of the romance genre. But to give a brief first impressions review, the character's are quite different from what I expected. As well, the visuals are very pleasing to the eye, good stuff.
Rental Girlfriend (Kanojo, Okarishimasu)
Not an anime, yet, but a manga. I started reading this one a while ago. Unfortunately, I stopped reading it as well as many other mangas for some time, partially because of the shutdown of MR. Being a seasoned manga pirate, I understand that chapter updates are quite spontaneous and slow, more often than not. This is also the reason why I had stopped; I'd reached the end of the road for the time being, and just never happened to check back in for a while.
I remember when I first read this, I was compelled to drop it because of how much I disliked the main character. I'm not sure what the accustomed level of vulgarness this community is at, but I'll say it anyway: I saw the protagonist as a bit of a degenerate. Although this isn't uncommon, it definitely turned me off the series. However, I found that that very personality adds its own humour to the story (of course the MC also has his good sides). In addition, everything about the main heroine is a blessing to my soul. For these reasons, and a few more, I had decided to keep going with the series.
Fast forward to this week (lol), I've been back to reading this manga. There is the downside of not remembering certain details from the past, but it's fine for the most part. I'm just trying to catch up on the mangas that I haven't been able to get to over the past few months, maybe year, even. Rental Girlfriend being one of them. Going back to tie up loose ends is a nice thing to do(though, most of the series I'm catching up on are ongoing), and it eases my mind in a way.Take care

I have been watching Oreimo Season 2 and it's, well, good? (for lack of a better word)
I watched the first season ages ago, and only recently took the responsibility to finish it off.
Nonetheless, it's a hearty anime with comedy and romance, I'd say that I enjoy it. The subtle references to other anime is a plus as the show implements aspects of "otaku culture".
Something to note, the progress in the relationships between certain characters accelerates abnormally fast in this season. A touch weird, but, I'm not going to be too picky about that. Thanks and take care
I'm pretty content with the ending. But there's this feeling I get that's hard to explain when I think about how so many characters will never know of the realities that the protagonist had to face. I was super happy that he got to reunite with Airi again (honestly, that was the thing I cared most about haha), but I wonder if we can even say that that's the same Airi from the beginning.
At the end of the day, it's just an anime so there's no need for me to get too real or existential about it but it was certainly a nagging thought. I believe causing us to overthink these sorts of concepts are what make fictional stories, particularly those like Erased with a supernatural theme, so interesting to watch.
Overall, it was a great experience rewatching this gem. There were plenty of areas in the story that felt like I was experiencing them for the first time so I'm glad I got to see it again. I'm also happy that we were able to get some engagement from the community here through this watch-along.
Thank you to those who joined along and commented, it was fun!
