As much as I love both the Scott Pilgrim comics and movie, every time I think about it now, it just creeps me out so much that Scott is a 23 year old dating a 17 year old high school student.
I was in middle school when I read most of the comics and high school when the movie came out, so I didn’t think much of it…but last time I watched it, with a decade of hindsight, it was just kind of creepy.
That's kind of the point, at least in the books. Everyone gives him side eye for dating Knives, and Scott ignores his character flaws and avoids any self reflection until his negative aspects...

Everyone gives him side eye for dating Knives, and Scott ignores his character flaws and avoids any self reflection until his negative aspects incarnate appear in front of him and clean his clock. The movie kinda glossed over it with him learning self respect, but I think the books did a pretty good job of showing Scott at his worst, him realizing that he's an avoidant man child who makes his friends lives more difficult, and he takes (baby) steps away from that, but if the age gap puts you off on principle, I don't hold that against you.
A 6 year gap isn't that big, but both the books and the film portray the relationship as inappropriate and unhealthy for both parties involved, so I don't really have a problem with how it's...
