I understand why a list that essentially comes down to "what is the feministest" and ranking along that axis might be a bit offputting (at first, I found it odd even as someone very invested in feminism and feminist criticism), so I think it's worth highlighting the reasoning and approach taken here:

The purpose of these reviews is to give you, our readers, enough information so you can decide for yourselves whether or not to watch a show. There’s greater access to anime than ever before, and we want to help you find anime you can truly love, without wasting your time on a show which contains an automatic deal-breaker, be that fanservice, homophobia, the sexualization of children, and so on.

Individuals can find value in the unlikeliest of places, and we will never lead a boycott of a particular show, but we want to make it easier for you to get the most out of your limited time. In our digest, feminist merit takes precedence, with overall narrative quality coming second and personal preference a distant(ish) third.

Shows containing feminist themes are at the highest end and those containing anti-feminist themes are at the lowest. We expect some disagreement and welcome debate, so if you have any objections to our lists then by all means let us know in the comments!

I think anyone that gets hung up on the word feminist in the site name and feminist principles (which are generally about promoting equality and fighting against bigotry) being the focus of these reviews would likely not care about those "deal breaker" issues, and their criticism of your submission probably isn't worth worrying about either, IMO. And ironically enough, such people may even seek out anime with those themes in them anyways, in which case this site would actually still be valuable to them but in the opposite way the authors intended it to be.

Either way, this is still a really interesting anime review site concept and I generally agree with all their assessments in the Yellow/Red Flag and Pit of Shame reviews (other than "microaggressions" being an issue worth worrying about) so this site will definitely help me narrow down potential shows to watch. Thanks for posting it. :)

I understand what you're saying, but at the same time I don't think that being on board with feminism in general means you're cool with what appears to be a feminist-approved watch list. I thought it was important to clarify that the goal here is to give you information about what you're getting into with each of these shows rather than to tell you which are the only ones you can watch and have your morals intact or something. I know if it was more along the lines of "here's what anime make you a bad person for liking them" I'd be a bit more uncomfortable with it and probably wouldn't have posted, even if I agreed with it.

Glad it could help you, though! I don't always agree with this site but it's nice to have a heads-up if the thing I'm thinking about giving a shot has weird moments of pedophilia or something so I can avoid it.

If the recent discourse on Goblin Slayer is anything to go by people are still very willing to think that critiquing what they enjoy is something of an indictment of their moral character as well.

Oh, I'm sure. But I also think there's a nonzero number of people who would appreciate the difference and react in a different way as a result. I know this because I did.

Fair enough, and your original comment would certainly help assuage that concern, so it makes sense.

I need to read more of these; I do not want to be surprised at a thing like Goblin Slayer. Or get invested in anime that end up having really creepy shit happening later on.

The favicon next to the Title/URL? For me it's not the apple logo, it's a green AF which is the logo for the site.

You must have the wrong version of the site icons spritesheet for some reason. You could try doing a hard refresh (Ctrl-F5), or just wait and it should fix itself eventually.
