There are surprisingly few U.S. fireworks competitions, given that we have a national Independence Day holiday where every little town and big city puts on a display. Traverse City has a nationally recognized annual fireworks event during the summer Cherry Festival, and the organizers plus the local Tourism Board decided that this locale would be a great spot for an international competition show.
