What new poems have you come across this year?

I've made an effort to read some more poems this year and always enjoy finding out any more when I can. In the UK you can find anthologies of "The Nation's Favourite Poems" and "The Nation's Favourite Comic Poems" et alia by the BBC, which is where I've learnt most of my new ones this year. It'd be great to see what poems have left an impression on you this year.

For brevity, I'll put a short one here and then two longer ones I discovered this year down in the comments.

Two Cures for Love - Wendy Cope

Don’t see him. Don’t phone or write a letter.
The easy way: get to know him better.

I've chosen an English and a German one. I have a wonderful book, "The Oxford Book of German Verse", which I got from a market. It's got some gems. English: Blackberry-Picking by Seamus Heaney...

I've chosen an English and a German one. I have a wonderful book, "The Oxford Book of German Verse", which I got from a market. It's got some gems.

English: Blackberry-Picking by Seamus Heaney Late August, given heavy rain and sun
For a full week, the blackberries would ripen.
At first, just one, a glossy purple clot
Among others, red, green, hard as a knot.
You ate that first one and its flesh was sweet
Like thickened wine: summer's blood was in it
Leaving stains upon the tongue and lust for
Picking. Then red ones inked up and that hunger
Sent us out with milk cans, pea tins, jam-pots
Where briars scratched and wet grass bleached our boots.
    Round hayfields, cornfields and potato-drills
We trekked and picked until the cans were full,
Until the tinkling bottom had been covered
With green ones, and on top big dark blobs burned
Like a plate of eyes. Our hands were peppered
With thorn pricks, our palms sticky as Bluebeard's.

We hoarded the fresh berries in the byre.
But when the bath was filled we found a fur,
A rat-grey fungus, glutting on our cache.
The juice was stinking too. Once off the bush
The fruit fermented, the sweet flesh would turn sour.
I always felt like crying. It wasn't fair
That all the lovely canfuls smelt of rot.
Each year I hoped they'd keep, knew they would not.
German - Herbstklage von Nikolaus Lenau Holder Lenz, du bist dahin!
    Nirgends, nirgends darfst du bleiben!
Wo ich sah dein frohes Blühn,
    Braust des Herbstes langes Treiben.

Wie der Wind so traurig fuhr
Durch den Strauch, als ob er weine:
    Sterbeseufzer der Natur
    Schauern durch die welken Haine.

Wieder ist, wie bald! wie bald!
    Mir ein Jahr dahingeschwunden.
Fragend rauscht es aus dem Wald:
"Hat dein Herz sein Glück gefunden?"

    Waldesrauschen, wunderbar
Hast du mir das Herz getroffen!
    Treulich bringt ein jedes Jahr
    Welkes Laub und welkes Hoffen.

You can find an English translation (two, actually) of the German here: https://www.lieder.net/lieder/get_text.html?TextId=21667. I don't think the translations will ever quite capture the original, however, so hopefully some of you can appreciate it in its native tongue.

"For a Student Who Used AI to Write a Paper" Joseph Fasano Another (though not one I found this year), since you mentioned Wendy Cope! "The Orange" Wendy Cope I feel like these two pair nicely...

"For a Student Who Used AI to Write a Paper"

Now I let it fall back
    in the grasses.
    I hear you. I know
    this life is hard now.
I know your days are precious
    on this earth.
    But what are you trying
    to be free of?
    The living? The miraculous
    task of it?
Love is for the ones who love the work.

    Joseph Fasano

Another (though not one I found this year), since you mentioned Wendy Cope!

    "The Orange"

At lunchtime I bought a huge orange -
The size of it made us all laugh.
I peeled it and shared it with Robert and Dave -
They got quarters and I had a half.

And that orange, it made me so happy,
    As ordinary things often do
Just lately. The shopping. A walk in the park.
This is peace and contentment. It’s new.

The rest of the day was quite easy.
I did all the jobs on my list
And enjoyed them and had some time over.
    I love you. I'm glad I exist.

    Wendy Cope

I feel like these two pair nicely together.
